Jeep continues to apply bandaids to the high voltage battery system. The latest recall, 68c, is another software fix that doesnt address the root cause, high voltage battery. after the recall, the car drives horrible when in electric mode - engine kicks on all the time, loss of power until you stomp on the accelerator (which then kicks on engine). NHTSA needs to hold Jeep Stellantis accountable for selling an inferior product and take care of the customers who have supported them for the past 5 years until they stopped selling them! there are 320,000 jeeps impacted, lets fix this!!! I will be scheduling service soon, but you cant expect customers to stop our lives to live at the service center. Jeep really needs to start offering a large scale buyback OR fix the issue which would be to replace the battery with new improved updated one that doesnt become a fire risk every year! Thats where the NHTSA should come in to play - which is "dedicated to saving lives, preventing injuries, and reducing economic costs associated with motor vehicle crashes. It achieves this by setting safety standards, investigating defects, issuing recalls"

My vehicle is subject to an open safety recall (NHTSA Recall 25V-741) involving high-voltage battery separator damage that may cause a vehicle fire when parked or charging. The recall has been active on this vehicle for over four months. The manufacturer and dealers have confirmed the recall applies but have not provided a remedy timeline or parts availability. The vehicle is considered unsafe to park near structures or other vehicles and I have been advised to avoid recharging. No repair has been performed. The condition places occupants and others at risk of fire and prevents safe use of the vehicle. I am reporting this because the manufacturer has failed to remedy this safety recall in a timely manner.

This is a follow-up to NHTSA Complaint Number 11684726, submitted to provide additional information after the dealer diagnosis confirmed the defect. My 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara has experienced a complete Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) failure, which has been diagnosed and confirmed by an authorized Jeep dealership. The instrument cluster remains blank during vehicle operation and is available for inspection upon request. As a result, I cannot view critical safety information including the speedometer, fuel level, warning lamps, turn signals, and other required driver displays. This creates a significant safety risk, as I am unable to monitor vehicle speed or receive warning indicators while driving. The vehicle has also experienced related electronic failures consistent with network communication disruption, including loss of the center infotainment display, radio failure, and HVAC malfunction with the defroster stuck in full operation and unresponsive to controls. Stellantis has declined repair assistance despite dealer confirmation. This failure mode is consistent with Recall 24V-652, which identifies internal instrument cluster failure resulting in blank displays. However, my VIN is not currently included in the recall population. Given the confirmed failure and safety impact, I respectfully request NHTSA review whether additional VIN ranges, including my vehicle, should be included. Unsafe Vehicle, Unresolved Mechanical Failures – Serious Safety Concern On [XXX], I purchased a Jeep (VIN: [XXX] ) from Whipple Auto Sales. Since the purchase, the vehicle has experienced repeated mechanical failures that have created serious safety concerns. Approximately two weeks after purchase, the dealership replaced a fuel injector due to performance issues. About one month later, the vehicle began showing sensor codes and experienced sudden power loss while driving. On [XXX] the vehicle completely shut off while I was traveling on the highway, placing my safety at significant risk. The dealership initially stated that the key required reprogramming. However, after keeping the vehicle for approximately one month, they were still unable to repair the issue. The dealership later claimed the problem was related to the powertrain. Without resolving the issue or providing proper notice, they returned the vehicle to my residence in worse condition than when it was left with them. At this time, the vehicle is unsafe and unreliable, and I cannot confidently operate it. This situation demonstrates a lack of proper repair, accountability, and resolution. I am extremely concerned about the safety and reliability of this vehicle and the dealership’s handling of this matter. I am seeking a proper resolution to this issue. Shortly after leaving my house I glanced at the digital readout for my speed and noticed that the instrument cluster was blank. I pulled over, stopped my Jeep, then restarted it to see if that would correct it, which it did not. I took it to a reputable auto/electrical garage who at first noticed a master fuse block blown and replaced the fuse block. That didn't correct the instrument cluster however but they did find a recall 30B for 2020 Jeep Wrangler. I called Stellantis (1 800 334 9200) today, Feb 16th . I was told by 3 different people in 3 different departments that even though there is a safety recall on 2020 Jeeps my VIN# isn't included. I asked why not and was told that it depended where the Jeep was made. They also told me that the repair will be at my expense. This doesn't seem fair to me because the recall is a safety issue to replace the instrument panel cluster free of charge. Just because my Jeep VIN# wasn't included doesn't mean it wasn't going to fail like the others that were included!! I have no readouts on my dashboard and am sure it won't even pass inspection now because of that, let alone serious safety concerns without warning lights. I have to ask you, SHOULDN'T MY JEEP BE INCLUDED IN THIS SAFETY RECALL AND BE CORRECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER?!?! Thank you in advance for your consideration in this matter! 1. Loss of motive power at freeway speeds (drops to ~40 mph) despite >40% battery charge 2. Uncommanded switching between electric and gas propulsion; driver cannot control the transition 3. Unintended acceleration in reverse / tire spin even after releasing accelerator 4. Steering wheel shaking at highway speeds → potential loss of control ***All of these items create a high risk of rear-end crash, parking-lot collision, and pedestrian/property hazard This is not “normal hybrid operation.” It is an intermittent propulsion control failure (loss of power + uncommanded acceleration behavior) that materially affects safe operation, so it should be handled as a warrantable defect and a safety defect, regardless of recall status. And because the vehicle cannot reliably maintain electric propulsion and instead experiences unpredictable loss of power and forced transitions to the gasoline engine—even with significant battery charge remaining—it is not functioning as a hybrid/electric vehicle as advertised. I paid an additional premium for hybrid/electric capability, but due to these propulsion-control failures the vehicle cannot be safely or consistently operated in electric mode and therefore is not providing the advertised hybrid/electric functionality.

The hybrid propulsion system in my 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe intermittently malfunctions while driving. The “D” (Drive) indicator on the gear selector begins flashing, and the engine RPMs suddenly decrease without warning. During these events, the vehicle loses propulsion power and responsiveness. After several seconds, the vehicle may return to normal operation. This failure affects the hybrid powertrain and transmission system. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This condition creates a serious safety risk because the sudden loss of propulsion reduces the vehicle’s ability to accelerate or maintain speed in traffic. This is especially dangerous when merging, crossing intersections, or driving at highway speeds, as it increases the risk of collision due to loss of power and reduced vehicle control. The vehicle has been evaluated by a Jeep dealership service department. The dealership has not provided a permanent repair, and the manufacturer recall affecting the hybrid system remains open and unresolved. The recall repair has not been performed, and the hybrid malfunction continues to occur. The vehicle has been inspected by dealership personnel, but the issue remains unresolved. The dealership indicated that replacing the 12-volt battery may help, but no definitive root cause has been identified, and the hybrid system malfunction continues. There were no battery warning lights prior to or during the failure. The primary symptom is the flashing “D” indicator and sudden decrease in RPMs, followed by temporary recovery. This indicates a malfunction of the hybrid propulsion system. This unresolved hybrid system failure presents an ongoing safety hazard and loss of propulsion while driving.

The dash displayed multiple warning ICONS and I carried the Jeep to a mechanic. They discovered that the ABS Module, which is the anti braking system, had a fault error and needed to be replaced. After multiple attempts have found out that this particular ABS Module, OEM Part number (68145835AE) is no longer available by Jeep Chrysler and has not been available for the past few years. This means the Jeep is not safe to drive if the roads are wet or icy due to the possibility of loosing the brakes from skidding/loss of control of the vehicle.

I own a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe with approximately 14,000 miles. The vehicle is subject to multiple safety recalls involving fire risk and potential catastrophic failure. Recall 1 involves the high-voltage battery. The manufacturer instructed owners not to charge the vehicle and not to park near structures due to risk of fire. The recall notice states that not charging may lower the risk of fire. Recall 2 indicates that manufacturing contamination (dust/debris) may cause fire or catastrophic engine failure. No remedy is currently available and no repair timeline has been provided. To perform the battery recall, the dealership advised that the vehicle must be charged. However, the dealer indicated limited charger availability and no loaner vehicles, requiring the vehicle to be left for multiple days. Recall 1 has been repaired, but it took multiple attempts because the dealership was not properly equipped to handle it. Recall 2 remains outstanding. Due to manufacturer safety instructions and unresolved recall conditions, the vehicle cannot be safely or normally operated as intended. There is now a pattern of recalls involving acknowledged safety risks with potential fire and catastrophic failure. I sought manufacturer-sponsored arbitration regarding these safety concerns. Relief was denied on the basis that risk of catastrophic loss does not constitute a defect unless a failure event occurs... I am submitting this complaint due to concerns regarding vehicle safety, operability, and the absence of a timely remedy.

PE25014 · Instrument Panel Cluster (ipc) Failure

Opened Oct 23, 2025 · No close date supplied

Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Electrical System: Instrument Cluster/panel

The Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) is opening a Preliminary Evaluation on 2020 Model Year Jeep Gladiators and Wranglers involving a malfunctioning Instrument Panel Clusters (IPC) resulting in the loss of important vehicle metrics and other status information.  ODI has received 89 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) alleging a complete or partial loss of the IPC display while driving.  The subject vehicles' IPC display includes the speedometer, fuel gauge, engine temperature, turn signal indicators, warning light, and other gauges that are normally illuminated while the vehicle is in operation.  Loss of the fuel gauge while driving may lead to an inability to determine the fuel level and result in a loss of motive power, and the loss of other safety-related information may impede a driver’s ability to take action to prevent a safety risk.  Furthermore, an IPC that is suddenly not visible to the driver may divert the driver’s attention from the driving task, potentially causing a vehicle crash. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation to evaluate the scope, severity and frequency of the alleged IPC malfunctions and to assess potential safety-related consequences. NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after March 1, 2021.On January 27, 2023, NHTSA opened Defect Petition (DP) 22-005 to evaluate the subject matter described in the petition. On June 24, 2023 and as supplemented on June 25, 2023, the petitioner notified NHTSA he was withdrawing his petition. The petitioner indicated that, based on his review of data, there is no justification for asserting potential benefits that could be derived from actions sought by my petition. Based on the petitioner's withdrawal, DP22-005 is closed. Closure of this DP does not represent a determination by NHTSA regarding the subject matter of the petition.

DP14004 · Totally Integrated Power Module Failure

Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Electrical System

In a letter dated August 21, 2014, the Center for Auto Safety (CAS) petitioned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to initiate a defect investigation of alleged failures associated with the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) installed in Chrysler SUV?s, trucks, and vans beginning in the 2007 model year. The petitioner alleges that TIPM defects may result in engine stall, airbag non-deployment, failure of fuel pump shutoff resulting in unintended acceleration, fire, and other symptoms. On September 25, 2014, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened DP14-004 to evaluate the petition for a grant or deny decision. ODI analyzed complaint data provided by CAS as well as complaints submitted to ODI from consumers. In total, there were 296 complaints submitted by the petitioner in the original petition and five supplements, including 271 complaints related to the subject vehicles equipped with TIPM-7. Approximately 3 percent of CAS complaints are related to vehicles equipped with TIPM-6 and ODI?s review of these complaints did not identify any safety defect trends. ODI conducted a detailed review of complaints narratives submitted by CAS and consumers including careful analysis of vehicle repair histories, warranty claims obtained from the manufacturer and any available Customer Assistance Inquiry reports (CAIR). Analysis of the field data indicated that MY2011-2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles exhibited significantly higher complaint rates related to fuel pump relay (FPR) failures than other subject vehicles. In a September 3, 2014 letter to NHTSA, Chrysler submitted a Defect Information Report (DIR) identifying a defect in the FPR within the TIPM-7 which can result in a no start or stall condition in approximately 188,723 model year (MY) 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK) and Dodge Durango (WD) vehicles manufactured from January 5, 2010 through July 20, 2011 (14V-530).In a February 24, 2015 letter, Chrysler submitted a second DIR expanding the scope of the FPR defect condition to include an additional 338,216 MY 2012 through 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured from September 17, 2010 through August 19, 2013 and MY 2012 through 2013 Dodge Durango vehicles manufactured from January 18, 2011 through August 19, 2013 (15V-115).ODI analysis of the CAS allegations of TIPM defects resulting in stall while driving, airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration, fire and other faults identified a single defect condition related to 1 of over 60 different circuits in the TIPM assembly. The most common effect of this defect condition, related to the fuel pump relay, was a no-start concern, but it could also result in stall while driving (76 complaints). No valid evidence was presented in support of claims related to airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration or fire resulting from TIPM faults and these claims were found to be wholly without merit based on review of the field data and design of the relevant systems and components.Except insofar as the petitioner's contentions relate to the defect condition addressed by the Chrysler recalls, the factual bases of the petitioner's contentions that any further investigation is necessary are unsupported. In our view, additional investigation is unlikely to result in a finding that a defect related to motor vehicle safety exists or a NHTSA order for the notification and remedy of a safety-related defect as alleged by the petitioner at the conclusion of the requested investigation. Therefore, in view of the need to allocate and prioritize NHTSA's limited resources to best accomplish the agency's safety mission, the petition is den
