The clutch plate has failed on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler. I brought it into the dealer to take a look at it when I was experiencing the clutch slipping while shifting into first gear and also the "Service Auto Start Stop" indicator illuminating. Once the indicator illuminated, it also prevented by cruise control from working. After the dealer conducted troubleshooting of the issue, they told me that it was due to a safety recall on the clutch plate but that parts were unavailable. This appointment took place on August 4th, 2023. I was told that this issue could lead to a fire, so I have not been driving the vehicle since then. As of October 31st 2023, they still do not have the necessary parts to fix the issue. In the meantime, I've had to arrange for alternate transportation which cost me ~$3,700.

Jeep refused to pay for it, although the same year of Wrangler was recalled for the Airbag failures. They returned my money almost 2 yrs later. The current Code is B1B02 (Clockspring). In addition to my Airbag light being on, due to failure (defect), my other gauges are not working properly (gasoline etc.) and the electronics will not work now (buttons on steering wheel for cruise control, radio, trip/mileage etc. Jeep dealerships in Illinois have repeatedly stolen parts off my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, as it is a "Special Edition" Black Ops package. I have also caught a Jeep technician draining my coolant, which he spilled all over my radiator, in an attempt to tell me I had a "leak" and all the coolant is gone. He tried to "bend" my waterpump (in front of me) and I demanded he return my keys & I left. I've run out of reputable dealerships to take my Jeep. PLEASE HELP! I have a disabled child who rides with me & I cannot be without Airbags. Since day of purchase, this Jeep has been riddled with KNOWN DEFECTS. The local mechanic told me there was a Recall. Jeep has not notified me of Recalls or ANY information in several years, as a result of my complaints to the Manufacturer's Administrators about the continuous theft and fraud by their dealerships and the defects in my Jeep.

I managed to get it to the side break down lane by coasting it over with out injury's ,but almost caused tree car crash by them avoiding contact with my jeep. I had the jeep towed home by friend and had it checked out there was not dash lights , not radio , no headlights , and when the key was turned on the dash would not light up or start at all . I call the dealer for there information on this . They told me that the ignition switch was not working. I replaced it with 2 other switches and still same problem . I finally had an associate that works at a dodge dealer come to look at it as a favor. He told me the TIPM module was not working by not allowing power to distribute to the electrical components and also fuel pump. therefore I would have to get the TIPM MODULE replace or repaired . This is not the 1st time he has seen this happen, he has seen lost of complaint on this issue from other owners and repair shops and then told me that I was very lucky that the jeep di not get hit on me injured from it shutting off on the highway. I told him that I would not include his name in my report to you or the dodge dealers , he does not want to get in any trouble or loose his employment and I respect that .

Jeep is aware of faulty cluster packs that operate the dash and guages. They have stated it was a software issue (but the flash did not fix), but as soon as it is out of warranty they now say the cluster pack needs replacing for over $1000. The faulty system, reported all over Jeep blogs, results in a complete loss of gauges, speedometer, temp, etc leaving the driver in an u safe scenario of operation and putting others on the road at risk. This has happened to our other Jeep as well. When we contacted Jeep corporate we were told we would hear something within 24 hours, and never heard from them. This happens randomly until complete failure occurs. This started early in the ownership of the new vehicle.

My 2021 4XE Wrangler Rubicon has already had the Loss of Motive Power Recall performed a year ago. Jeep stated that the recall software update would prevent this incident. It is not corrected!!! Yesterday, while traveling on I-70 near Virginia at about 70 mph (the speed limit), the Jeep displayed a Jeep Vehicle with the PHEV High Voltage Cables and Battery Pack Diagram drawn over the Jeep in Bright Red color. No codes happened at all when this appeared (no Check Engine Light, no service indicators, nothing). Some words quickly flashed on the dash display stating something like, "Loss of Performance" and the engine shutdown completely and the "D" next to shifter binked yellow continuously afterwards. The dash then stated to Shift Vehicle into Park to Restart (while still coasting at nearly 70 mph). I managed to coast it to the emergency lane, stop the Jeep, shift into park and restart. It then would not run even remotely normal, because it was in a safety mode of some sort. Again, with the engine running completely erratically, no coding at all. When I pressed the accelerator like normal, it would not respond at all (even putting it to the floor had no affect). I had to figure out how to get the accelerator to work so I could drive it back home. I had to gently press the pedal to get it to respond and then the Jeep would not go above about 2500 RPM. It would force itself to slow down if it reached any higher RPM. I went to the local Jeep Dealership ASAP today and was told nothing was recorded in the computer, software is up to date, and there is nothing wrong with my Jeep. This is a serious problem and has to be diagnosed and fixed!!!!

The sensor witch detects if the front and rear differential lockers is engaged or not has quit working. Once I looked into it, the sensor was full of diff oil causing it to stop working. I then found out it has been such a big issue that Jeep has a National back order on the part to replace it. The parts were found to be leaking in almost all Jeeps tested. That component is a major part to the off-road capability. I found myself in the back of my local national forest and unable to get unstuck because I drove through mud that would have been no problem if my lockers work functioning properly. If it weren’t for me owning an emergency satellite transponder I honestly don’t know how myself and my twelve year old would have made it out. I live in the middle of grizzly bears. Spoke to Jeep and was told “they know it’s a major issue but won’t fix them until told to do so”

On 9/16 I went to leave for work for the day and my car would not start. The auto stop start system was illuminated with a warning. A neighbor jumstarted to car for me. I drove to my dealership where I was told both of my batteries had failed and I would need to replace them. I replaced both. Upon leaving the dealership my stop start was still showing a warning. I was told it would go off after driving for a few days. It did not. I returned to the dealership on 9/25 to see what was wrong. The code the vechicle was giving was low battery. I was told it was a software update and was sent on my way. This issue with my vechicle par of a RRT21-077 dated 6/24/21. I was never notified of this by Jeep. I was told when I brought this to their attention that because this probelem did not occur within 18 months of the bulletin my issue would not be covered. I am concerned that this issue will happen again and leave me stranded without power, as clearly it is an issue with this model.

Loss of the fuel gauge while driving may lead to an inability to determine the fuel level and result in a loss of motive power, and the loss of other safety-related information may impede a driver’s ability to take action to prevent a safety risk. Furthermore, an IPC that is suddenly not visible to the driver may divert the driver’s attention from the driving task, potentially causing a vehicle crash. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation to evaluate the scope, severity and frequency of the alleged IPC malfunctions and to assess potential safety-related consequences. NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after March 1, 2021.On January 27, 2023, NHTSA opened Defect Petition (DP) 22-005 to evaluate the subject matter described in the petition. On June 24, 2023 and as supplemented on June 25, 2023, the petitioner notified NHTSA he was withdrawing his petition. The petitioner indicated that, based on his review of data, there is no justification for asserting potential benefits that could be derived from actions sought by my petition. Based on the petitioner's withdrawal, DP22-005 is closed. Closure of this DP does not represent a determination by NHTSA regarding the subject matter of the petition.
DP14004 · Totally Integrated Power Module Failure
Opened Sep 25, 2014 · Closed Jul 24, 2015

In a letter dated August 21, 2014, the Center for Auto Safety (CAS) petitioned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to initiate a defect investigation of alleged failures associated with the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) installed in Chrysler SUV?s, trucks, and vans beginning in the 2007 model year. The petitioner alleges that TIPM defects may result in engine stall, airbag non-deployment, failure of fuel pump shutoff resulting in unintended acceleration, fire, and other symptoms. On September 25, 2014, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened DP14-004 to evaluate the petition for a grant or deny decision. ODI analyzed complaint data provided by CAS as well as complaints submitted to ODI from consumers. In total, there were 296 complaints submitted by the petitioner in the original petition and five supplements, including 271 complaints related to the subject vehicles equipped with TIPM-7. Approximately 3 percent of CAS complaints are related to vehicles equipped with TIPM-6 and ODI?s review of these complaints did not identify any safety defect trends. ODI conducted a detailed review of complaints narratives submitted by CAS and consumers including careful analysis of vehicle repair histories, warranty claims obtained from the manufacturer and any available Customer Assistance Inquiry reports (CAIR). Analysis of the field data indicated that MY2011-2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles exhibited significantly higher complaint rates related to fuel pump relay (FPR) failures than other subject vehicles. In a September 3, 2014 letter to NHTSA, Chrysler submitted a Defect Information Report (DIR) identifying a defect in the FPR within the TIPM-7 which can result in a no start or stall condition in approximately 188,723 model year (MY) 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK) and Dodge Durango (WD) vehicles manufactured from January 5, 2010 through July 20, 2011 (14V-530).In a February 24, 2015 letter, Chrysler submitted a second DIR expanding the scope of the FPR defect condition to include an additional 338,216 MY 2012 through 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured from September 17, 2010 through August 19, 2013 and MY 2012 through 2013 Dodge Durango vehicles manufactured from January 18, 2011 through August 19, 2013 (15V-115).ODI analysis of the CAS allegations of TIPM defects resulting in stall while driving, airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration, fire and other faults identified a single defect condition related to 1 of over 60 different circuits in the TIPM assembly. The most common effect of this defect condition, related to the fuel pump relay, was a no-start concern, but it could also result in stall while driving (76 complaints). No valid evidence was presented in support of claims related to airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration or fire resulting from TIPM faults and these claims were found to be wholly without merit based on review of the field data and design of the relevant systems and components.Except insofar as the petitioner's contentions relate to the defect condition addressed by the Chrysler recalls, the factual bases of the petitioner's contentions that any further investigation is necessary are unsupported. In our view, additional investigation is unlikely to result in a finding that a defect related to motor vehicle safety exists or a NHTSA order for the notification and remedy of a safety-related defect as alleged by the petitioner at the conclusion of the requested investigation. Therefore, in view of the need to allocate and prioritize NHTSA's limited resources to best accomplish the agency's safety mission, the petition is den
