So I was driving into work on the interstate yesterday around 10am, and my jeep started to die out of nowhere. I almost got in a wreck. I was able to pull over on the side, and the engine light came on and I took it straight to the auto mechanic. I guess my oil filter housing unit is bad and is causing my oil to leak. The auto mechanic said this is a KNOWN issue in the design flaws of Crysler vehicles including my jeep wrangler with the 3.6L engines. This could have gone much worst for me, and after doing some more research this is happening in their 3.6L Engines and is a confirmed design flaw. The issue is reported to affect vehicles with the Pentastar V6 engine, including models like the Jeep Wrangler, Chrysler 300, and Dodge Charger, from around 2013 to 2021. They are saying it's not a safety issue, yet I almost caused an accident as my jeep started to die while driving 70 mph. This needs to be recalled asap!!! It more than likely has already caused accidents.

My 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 4xe vehicle is unsafe, and I fear driving it could cause death or serious bodily injury. The vehicle turns off intermittently and displays "service electrical charging system." The 4xe recalls 95B/NHTSA 24V-720 and especially, recall ZB7/NHTSA 22V-865 have not been properly repaired and completely resolved. This is a serious and potentially dangerous defect. This Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe unexpectedly turns off while driving, it has turned off on me while driving on the freeway, regular streets and has left me stranded in dangerous predicaments. Starting the vehicle is also unpredictable, sometimes it starts and sometimes it does not. This is especially terrifying when it spontaneously shut off while driving. I no longer can safely operate this vehicle without placing myself, my family and others in peril, and as a result I have had to purchase a new vehicle. Vehicle engine shuts down condition caused by diagnostic reactions to faults caused by loss of communication. Recall ZB7/NHTSA 22V-865 is still occurring to my 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 4xe, an engine shut down condition results in an unexpected loss of motive power while driving, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.

I brought my jeep in for the 95B recall this past December (12/17/24), it was fixed for about a week then problems with the electric system emerged and the vehicle would not run in electric mode. I also received messages saying that an oil change was required (despite having an oil change done in December), and that the battery needed to be charged for maintenance (despite the battery being fully charged the previous evening). I brought it back to dealer (2/3/25) to fix the issue. They said they fixed it and gave it back to me. A few days later the same problems reappeared so I brought it back on 2/22/25 and just received word that they cannot find a solution to the problems despite working with tech advisors from other dealerships and Stellantis. In short, I have had the same issues with the vehicle since about November, they have attempted to fix it 3 times and now are telling me that they do not have a fix for the problems. Please help!

On [XXX], I was in Fort Lauderdale, FL for vacation with my 2 friends. I was driving for about 20-30 minutes on the road, got on the highway and noticed a rubber smell. I got off the highway. I still noticed the smell did not go away. So I opened the windows & turned off the AC. Then I saw white smoke coming from the vents and smoke coming from the right side of the hood, in front of the passenger side. I proceeded to pull over and parked the car. We exit the car & saw smoke/flames coming from the right passenger side & underneath the car. I called 911. There were no warnings or indications on my dashboard that something was wrong. I got my car serviced a month prior to this fire at a certified Jeep dealership. My car was deemed a total loss by my insurance. This was completely a safety hazard to myself, two friends and the public. Luckily, there was a fire department just a few buildings down. They arrived shortly after the 911 call and put out the fire, preventing further damage to the surroundings. It was terrifying but thankfully we are all safe. Opened Oct 23, 2025 · No close date supplied
Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Electrical System: Instrument Cluster/panel
The Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) is opening a Preliminary Evaluation on 2020 Model Year Jeep Gladiators and Wranglers involving a malfunctioning Instrument Panel Clusters (IPC) resulting in the loss of important vehicle metrics and other status information. ODI has received 89 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) alleging a complete or partial loss of the IPC display while driving. The subject vehicles' IPC display includes the speedometer, fuel gauge, engine temperature, turn signal indicators, warning light, and other gauges that are normally illuminated while the vehicle is in operation. Loss of the fuel gauge while driving may lead to an inability to determine the fuel level and result in a loss of motive power, and the loss of other safety-related information may impede a driver’s ability to take action to prevent a safety risk. Furthermore, an IPC that is suddenly not visible to the driver may divert the driver’s attention from the driving task, potentially causing a vehicle crash. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation to evaluate the scope, severity and frequency of the alleged IPC malfunctions and to assess potential safety-related consequences. Recall 22V-865 was issued by the manufacturer to address an engine shutdown condition in certain MY 2021-2023 Wrangler 4xe vehicles. The complaints noted here contain both post recall remedy failures and failures in vehicles not included within the scope of 22V-865. An analysis comparing complaints received before the issuance of recall 22V-865 and complaints outside the scope of the recall has been conducted. The results show the current complaint rate is higher in the out of scope vehicles than it was for vehicles that were later covered by the recall. ODI is opening this Recall Query (RQ) to assess the severity of the alleged defect in vehicles not included in recall 22V-865.ODI will also assess the scope and remedy effectiveness of the recall. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.

NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after March 1, 2021.On January 27, 2023, NHTSA opened Defect Petition (DP) 22-005 to evaluate the subject matter described in the petition. On June 24, 2023 and as supplemented on June 25, 2023, the petitioner notified NHTSA he was withdrawing his petition. The petitioner indicated that, based on his review of data, there is no justification for asserting potential benefits that could be derived from actions sought by my petition. Based on the petitioner's withdrawal, DP22-005 is closed. Closure of this DP does not represent a determination by NHTSA regarding the subject matter of the petition.
DP14004 · Totally Integrated Power Module Failure

In a letter dated August 21, 2014, the Center for Auto Safety (CAS) petitioned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to initiate a defect investigation of alleged failures associated with the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) installed in Chrysler SUV?s, trucks, and vans beginning in the 2007 model year. The petitioner alleges that TIPM defects may result in engine stall, airbag non-deployment, failure of fuel pump shutoff resulting in unintended acceleration, fire, and other symptoms. On September 25, 2014, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened DP14-004 to evaluate the petition for a grant or deny decision. ODI analyzed complaint data provided by CAS as well as complaints submitted to ODI from consumers. In total, there were 296 complaints submitted by the petitioner in the original petition and five supplements, including 271 complaints related to the subject vehicles equipped with TIPM-7. Approximately 3 percent of CAS complaints are related to vehicles equipped with TIPM-6 and ODI?s review of these complaints did not identify any safety defect trends. ODI conducted a detailed review of complaints narratives submitted by CAS and consumers including careful analysis of vehicle repair histories, warranty claims obtained from the manufacturer and any available Customer Assistance Inquiry reports (CAIR). Analysis of the field data indicated that MY2011-2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles exhibited significantly higher complaint rates related to fuel pump relay (FPR) failures than other subject vehicles. In a September 3, 2014 letter to NHTSA, Chrysler submitted a Defect Information Report (DIR) identifying a defect in the FPR within the TIPM-7 which can result in a no start or stall condition in approximately 188,723 model year (MY) 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK) and Dodge Durango (WD) vehicles manufactured from January 5, 2010 through July 20, 2011 (14V-530).In a February 24, 2015 letter, Chrysler submitted a second DIR expanding the scope of the FPR defect condition to include an additional 338,216 MY 2012 through 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured from September 17, 2010 through August 19, 2013 and MY 2012 through 2013 Dodge Durango vehicles manufactured from January 18, 2011 through August 19, 2013 (15V-115).ODI analysis of the CAS allegations of TIPM defects resulting in stall while driving, airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration, fire and other faults identified a single defect condition related to 1 of over 60 different circuits in the TIPM assembly. The most common effect of this defect condition, related to the fuel pump relay, was a no-start concern, but it could also result in stall while driving (76 complaints). No valid evidence was presented in support of claims related to airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration or fire resulting from TIPM faults and these claims were found to be wholly without merit based on review of the field data and design of the relevant systems and components.Except insofar as the petitioner's contentions relate to the defect condition addressed by the Chrysler recalls, the factual bases of the petitioner's contentions that any further investigation is necessary are unsupported. In our view, additional investigation is unlikely to result in a finding that a defect related to motor vehicle safety exists or a NHTSA order for the notification and remedy of a safety-related defect as alleged by the petitioner at the conclusion of the requested investigation. Therefore, in view of the need to allocate and prioritize NHTSA's limited resources to best accomplish the agency's safety mission, the petition is den
