COMMENT: I HAVE BROUGHT IN MY TUCSON FOR THE CLUNKING TRANSMISSION ISSUE 5 TIMES NOW. EACH RETURN TO THE SERVICE CENTER RESULTS IN A CANNOT DUPLICATE RESPONSE. 1. ON THE MORNING OF 28 MARCH 2013, APPROXIMATELY 20 SECONDS AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, A LOUD MECHANICAL CLUNK WAS HEARD AND FELT FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT, THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT RESPOND, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, AND THE P,R,N,D INDICATOR IN THE DASH BOARD DISPLAY WENT BLANK. THE CAR WAS SHIFTED INTO P, A LOUD MECHANICAL CLUNK' WAS HEARD AND FELT FOLLOWED BY A LOUD CRUNCH'. THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF, AND THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED WITH NO ISSUES ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS WARMED UP. 2. RECALL SERVICE FOR THE TRANSMISSION COOLING LINE COUPLING PERFORMED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN EXIBITING THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGE AND REENGAGE SYMPTOM WHILE DRIVING UNDER ACCELERATION. THIS OCCURS APPROXIMATELY ONCE A DAY UNDER ANY INCLINE OR FLAT CONDITION WHILE ACCELERATING. 3. WHILE ACCELERATING UP HILL, SPECIFICALLY UP HILL WHILE ACCELERATING UP TO 45 MPH THE VEHICLE WILL DOWN SHIFT TO CLIMB THE HILL. UNDER 2 CONDITIONS 1. CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, 2. CONSTANT ACCELERATOR PEDAL APPLICATION.THE VEHICLE WILL NOT RE-UPSHIFT ONCE THE HILL HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND KEEPS AN ELEVATED RPM RANGE OF APPROXIMATELY 3000 RPM EVEN WHILE ON LEVEL GROUND WHILE PASSING TAX AND REVENUE. THE RPMS DO NOT LOWER AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT UP SHIFT UNTIL EITHER THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED (TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL), OR THE ACCELERATOR IS LIFTED. NOTE: THE ENTIRE TIME THIS SITUATION IS OCCURRING THE ECON GREEN LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED.. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION INTERMITTENTLY DISENGAGES WHILE DRIVING, SOMETIMES WHILE DEPARTING INTERSECTION. THE TRANSMISSION ROBLEM HAS CONTINUED AND GROWN WORSE WITH EXAPNDING PROBLEMS. *TR
THE ESC OFF LIGHT COMES ON THE DASH. ALSO WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE OFF AND THE BRAKE IS PRESSED THE DASH LIGHTS COME ON. TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP TODAY. THEY REPLACED, THE SWITCH ASSY-STOP, THE CODE WAS C1513. PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED. THERE IS A RECALL BUT THEY ARE TELLING ME MY CAR IS NOT UNDER THE RECALL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS FLASHED OFF AND ABOUT A MINUTE LATER THEY CAME BACK ON. I DON'T DRIVE AT NIGHT THAT MUCH. ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER IT DID IT AGAIN. ABOUT 1 YEAR LATER IT DID IT AGAIN. IT IS AGGRAVATING WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AND THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS GO OUT. *TR

WHEN TURNING RIGHT ON A RAINING DAY, LOSS OF POWER - NO STEERING OR BRAKES. 2006 TUSCON WOULD RUN RADIO WOULD BE ON - BATTERY LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON - 10 SECONDS AFTER MANAGING TO GET OUT OF TRAFFICS WAY - CAR WOULD MOVE. HYUNDAI FOXED THE CAR BY REPLACING SENSORS AND SOME OTHER WORK RESULTING IN OVER A $1000. PRIOR MAJOR SERVICE WAS SERPENTINE BELT AND CHAIN REPLACEMENT ON SERVICE RECOMMENDATIONS - HAD NO ISSUES BEFORE THE CHAIN WAS REPLACED. EVER SINCE - THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO RESET FOR HESITATION BETWEEN 20 AND 40 MPH AND THE ADDITIONAL SENSOR WORK. HYUNDAI WOULD NOT GIVE ME ANY WARRANTY WORK AS MY 6 YEARS HAD JUST EXPIRED. I AM TAKING THE CAR BACK IN TOMORROW FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING TODAY IN A SUDDEN DOWN POUR - THE FIRST ONE SINCE I HAD THE CAR FIXED THAT I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE IN AND THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN EXCEPT THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING AND NOT TURNING. WATER SEEMED TO GET UNDER THE ENGINE AND SOMETHING IS GETTING WET. I REQUESTED A RENTAL CAR AND I AM LEAVING FOR VACATION ON SATURDAY TO THE SHORE. IF ITS NOT FIXED THIS TIME - I MAY HAVE TO CONSIDER A NEW CAR AND I JUST PAID IT OFF. *TR

THIS LED TO MY CAR ROLLING DOWN A HILL AND HITTING A TREE WITH NO ONE IN THE DRIVERS SEAT. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALER THEY TRIED THIS ON ANOTHER CAR IN THE LOT AND IT DID THE SAME THING. I WAS TOLD BY HYUNDAI CORPORATE OFFICES THAT THIS IS A "CAMPAIGN" ITEM. I CAN NOT FIND THIS PROBLEM LISTED AND I THINK IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BEFORE IT LEADS TO INJURY OR DEATH. *TR

I WENT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND WAS TOLD THE BATTERY WAS BAD. I REPLACED THE BATTERY. THE NEXT DAY, WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE WORK, THE VEHICLE AGAIN WOULD NOT START. I HAD TO HAVE A "JUMP" A SECOND TIME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND WAS TOLD THE BATTERY WAS FINE, AND THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD. I REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. TWO WEEKS AFTER REPLACING THE ALTERNATOR, I AGAIN HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE "JUMPED." I WENT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ALTERNATOR, WHICH WAS BRAND NEW, WAS BAD. I CONTACTED THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF SOMETHING CAUSING THE ALTERNATORS TO GO BAD LIKE I WAS DESCRIBING. *TR

SEE OID 10434752. SAME ISSUE. HAD PROBLEMS GETTING VEHICLE INTO PARK. THAT ISSUE APPEARS RESOLVED. HOWEVER, ONE DAY THE STEREO WAS STAYING ON FOR A FEW SECONDS AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF. TWO DAYS LATER, THERE WAS NO AUDIO FROM THE STEREO, GPS OR BLUETOOTH. THEY ALL APPEAR TO BE WORKING (RADIO CHANGES STATIONS/VOLUME, GPS OPERATES NORMALLY AND I CAN MAKE CALLS USING BLUETOOTH), THERE IS JUST NO AUDIO OUTPUT. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, THEY DID NOT DO ANY DIAGNOSTICS ASIDE FROM TURNING ON THE STEREO BEFORE TELLING ME THE STEREO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, FACTORY OR EXTENDED. THERE HAVE BEEN SOME OTHER UNUSUAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES LIKE THE TURN SIGNAL REMAINING ON AFTER THE LEVER WENT BACK TO THE OFF POSITION AND THERE BEING A DELAY OR COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS. *TR

I USUALLY KEEP MY CAR IN THE GARAGE AND OUT OF THE WEATHER. I RECALL LAST YEAR MY DAUGHTER SAID MY CAR STALLED OUT WHEN SHE WAS DRIVING. I TOLD HER WATER MAY HAVE JUST SPLASHED UNDER THE ENGINE OR SOMETHING. I JUST HAD THE SAME ISSUE. WE HAD A RAIN STORM LAST NIGHT. I WENT OUT AND STARTED MY CAR. I CAME OUT TO LEAVE AND MY CAR WAS OFF. I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN BUT IT DIDN'T WANT TO TURN OVER. FINALLY AFTER 7 TRIES THE CAR STARTED. I BACKED OUT AND IT JUST SPUTTERED AND THE CAR JUST CUT OUT TWICE. I JUST HAD NEW SPARKPLUGS AND SPARK PLUG WIRES PUT IN SO IT HAS TO BE SOMETHING IN THE ELECTRIC TO THE MOTOR. I DON'T TRUST HAVING MY GRANDSON IN THE CAR. I HAVE READ HORRIBLE STORIES ABOUT THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I BORROWED MY BOYFRIENDS CAR SO I COULD GET TO WORK. HOPING MAYBE SOMEONE KNOWS IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. *TR
