2014 Mazda CX-5

My 2014 Mazda CX-5 will not shut off completely. I put it in park and turn off the vehicle and the radio and electrical stays on, this has drained my battery on more than one occasion and was actually stuck in the middle of nowhere for one of the incidents. This needs to be recalled after researching this there are HUNDREDS of people with the same year, same vehicle and same issue. This has been reported, but nothing has been done for over 4 years. Over the past 2 weeks, it's be hard to turn the engine off. I put the car in park like normal, hit the engine off button. But then the car stays on and an alert on the dashboard says to put the car in park (even though it is already in park). Sometimes, taking the car out of park and then putting it back in park fixes the problem. Other times I have to do it several times or drive the car a little bit and then try again. It's been getting more frequent lately and happens several times a day.

The contact stated she was also unable to lock the doors. The contact stated she restarted the vehicle and manipulated the gear shifter several times to turn off the vehicle completely. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The contact continuously pressed the START/STOP button and brake pedal. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. front passenger side CV Axle/Boot, control arm, tie rod end fell apart causing tire to dislocate from vehicle. Vehicle has been properly maintained. It is at Mazda dealer service dept. It can be inspected there. If this fell apart on freeway it could have caused a major accident and loss of life. Dealer has not confirmed problem yet, awaiting their inspection. There were no warning signs or symptoms or messages.System passed previous Mazda service multi point inspection. Incident occurred out of the blue.

After pushing the button to turn my car off, the engine turns off but none of the electronics does. I have to turn my car on and off numerous times to get the navigation/radio screen to turn off, I'm a single woman and I don't want to come back to my car to find a dead battery late at night with no one around. This issue should be a recall from Mazda. It's not a wear and tear kind of problem, after many complains they actually changed the specifics of the new part, showing that they know it was defective.

Strong gasoline odor outside the vehicle. I verified that the gas cap is locked after filling up. I see no dash board warning lights that would suggest that there is a problem with the fuel cap or fuel system. The odor is still there even after running the tank down considerably. The smell is mostly detected on the driver side of the vehicle starting at the driver door and moving toward the rear of the vehicle where the fuel door is positioned. The smell is there in warm and cooler weather. It is 60 degrees F and I can smell .it.

Car will not sense that it is in park. It constantly says to put car in park when it already is. The car needs to be turned On and off several times to get it to work and one time it took 45 minutes. It happens nearly every day. It’s been going on for months and I’ve had 3 shops look at it. I called Mazda as well and they acted like they never heard of such a thing. Searching online it is very common with the make and model and year of the car.
