A software update appears on the screen. I hit update and got out of the Jeep. A number of hours later I started up the Jeep and drove away, about a mile down the road while driving the Jeep entirely shutdown. The motor was off and I had not control. The dash told me to put it in park and update. I was luckily in a spot where I could just stop in the middle of the road, I put it in park restarted but now with the check engine light on. I was able to limp home. It was very scary as if it was a more major road I could have caused an accident.
Software update causes vehicle to completely loose power after two minutes or so of driving. Very serious problem and dangerous. Requires stopping vehicle immediately and rebooting. Happens again and again.

After an over-the-air update of the Uconnect system on 10/10/25 the vehicle repeatedly lost propulsion. In each instance I abruptly had absolutely no acceleration, the gear indicator on the dash started flashing, the power mode indicator (electric/hybrid/esave) disappeared, an alert said shift into park and press the brake + start button, and the check engine light and red wrench lights came on. I was still able to steer and brake with power steering and brakes for maybe 30 seconds before those went out too. After putting it into park and pressing the brake and start button it started back up and I could drive it normally for a little bit, but it happened two more times on a 1.5 mi drive. This is a serious safety issue. I read the check engine code which was P1E1D
The vehicle did an over-the-air update to the vehicles software, u connect. The vehicle has since suffered two losses of propulsion while driving, with check engine light indicator illumination and a P1E1D code. This has been reported by numerous other 2024 4xe drivers.

Upon leaving class around 845pm, I expierenced a complete loss of power, many dash indicator lights came on, and the vehicle message appeared indicating the vehicle needed to be put into Park. This all occurred while driving at about 40mph. I have never had any issues with the vehicle before this.
Loss of propulsion while driving. Vehicle went into neutral and forced to pull over and restart the engine. This is due to a bad software update that jeep updated over the air just minutes earlier. This is being reported by hundreds of users on various forums on Reddit and Facebook.

On August 4, 2025, while being operated in an ordinary and careful manner, the newly-purchased vehicle experienced an episode of sudden unintended acceleration, lurching forward uncontrollably and slamming into a tree. Then, as the driver attempted to back up, the vehicle charged forward and struck the tree again. The vehicle's driver airbag never deployed despite sustaining two head-on collisions which ultimately rendered the vehicle a total loss. The vehicle's manufacturer hired an "independent" inspector to inspect the vehicle. They found "no manufacturing defects" and blamed "human error" for the incident.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Jeep Wrangler, Wrangler 4XE, and Jeep Gladiator vehicles. The electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring may overheat and cause a vehicle fire, even when the vehicle is parked with the ignition in the "Off" position.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A vehicle fire increases the risk of injury.
Remedy: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures, until their vehicle is repaired. Dealers will inspect and replace the wiring and electric hydraulic power steering pump, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 9, 2026. Contamination in the central vision processing module or improper programming may cause the rearview camera image not to display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will update the central vision processing module software or replace the module, as necessary, free of charge. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4Xe and 2022-2026 Grand Cherokee 4Xe vehicles. The high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A vehicle fire can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures and not to charge their vehicles until the remedy is completed. Dealers will update the high voltage battery software, and replace the high voltage battery, as necessary, free of charge. Some owner notification letters were mailed beginning December 17, 2025. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has identified 68 Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) reports for model years (MY) 2021 through 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe vehicles alleging a loss of motive power. Recall 22V-865 was issued by the manufacturer to address an engine shutdown condition in certain MY 2021-2023 Wrangler 4xe vehicles. The complaints noted here contain both post recall remedy failures and failures in vehicles not included within the scope of 22V-865. An analysis comparing complaints received before the issuance of recall 22V-865 and complaints outside the scope of the recall has been conducted. The results show the current complaint rate is higher in the out of scope vehicles than it was for vehicles that were later covered by the recall. ODI is opening this Recall Query (RQ) to assess the severity of the alleged defect in vehicles not included in recall 22V-865.ODI will also assess the scope and remedy effectiveness of the recall.
