2019 Jeep Cherokee

An alert showed on the message board SVC 4WD and 4WD unavailable. We live part time in the mountains and rely on 4WD. Last winter we had snow and could not get up our driveway. When leaving the mountains we were going through the steps to tow our Jeep behind our RV. The system indicated failure to disengage the transmission so we were unable to tow the Jeep and we were still 1000 miles from home in Florida. We went to Jeep dealers in PA, DE, GA, and again in FL. All dealers found the issue with the PTU issue 01C but said there was not a remedy. Even if they replaced the PTU it could happen again as they did not know what inside the PTU was the problem. We've had some transmission slipping or hesitating as well.

Approximately two weeks before the major symptom appeared, the “Service 4WD” warning light illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle’s performance didn’t seem to be noticeably affected, so I checked for any active recalls or service bulletins but found none that applied to my VIN. I monitored the situation closely in case it was an electrical or sensor-related issue. Shortly after, a loud clunking noise began coming from the drivetrain area, most noticeable during acceleration and deceleration. After arriving home, I immediately stopped driving the vehicle due to serious safety concerns and contacted my mechanic. A certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the transfer case (Power Transfer Unit) had failed and required replacement. The mechanic stated that this is a common problem in 2019 Jeep Cherokees. After researching, I found many other reports of similar failures, all traced to transfer-case defects. However, my VIN is not currently included in any recall. I believe this defect is related to known issues affecting Jeep Cherokee transfer cases and should be investigated further by NHTSA. I respectfully request that NHTSA open or expand an investigation into transfer case and PTU failures on 2019 Jeep Cherokee models to determine whether a recall and reimbursement for repairs are warranted.

This car has had the recall for quite sometime and the dealership refuses to help because there hasn’t been a fix yet with this recall. It has powered off or simply stop working in the middle of the road multiple times. Today on the most dangerous highway in Colorado Springs in the snow it turn off and all the messages relating to the recall turned on. It was the scariest moment of my life

I'm an elder who lives alone. My Jeep is my only regular transportation. I'm now fearful about this Jeep Recall 01C / NHTSA 25V-011 since things are happening that night mean my safety and my vehicle are greatly at risk! My SRC 4WD light came on about 10 days ago and I no longer have the ability to put my Jeep in 4WD as it says it must be serviced first. This ONLY STATED about 10 days ago. I have an appointment with a dealer this coming Wed, Dec 3. I said I was coming in for a recall and because my SRV 4WD light was coming on. I am not mechanical and didn't really understand the recall (NOW I do as I've researched ad nauseam!) I was told I'd have to pay $187 for a scan!! WHAT?!? Now that I know the story I will NOT do that! I will still go and explain my concerns but what a rip off that would have been! I am afraid now, of driving my car - and yet there is no FIX as of yet - not in MANY MONTHS - which I read is totally inappropriate with no recourse. This is just wrong for a SAFETY recall with my vehicle having 'symptoms' of this issue now being 'engaged' in some way. I did a couple of SRV 4WD easy troubleshooting steps of disconnecting neg battery cable for 50 minutes then re-attached and brought all 4 tires up to EXACT same PSI. Plus I had a simple scan done at auto parts store that shows nothing but a customer there offered to use his much better scanner and see photos to see what he found re: my PTU. What do I do? What CAN I do? I'd appreciate a quick response please. My only child, a [XXX] son, was killed in a car accident in 2016 and I really don't have anyone who can support me in this situation. While driving my vehicle last Thursday, November 20th, the "SVC 4WD" warning light came on without warning, following an audible and tangible thump from beneath the vehicle. Following this, a high-pitched grinding/whining could be heard from centrally beneath the vehicle, and the vehicle was unsteady accelerating/decelerating. The vehicle would not remain in park, and no drive was going to the back wheels. I believe this to be the same issue as in recall 01C for Jeep Cherokee KLs 2017-2019, which my vehicle falls into. This is a recall on an improperly seated input shaft snap ring in the power transfer unit (PTU) which my Jeep dealership has confirmed, damaged the transmission and differential components, including the axle rods. The vehicle is unusable in its current state, and is currently sitting at a valued repair cost of approximately $7000.

there are 3 lights that keep jumping on P! ENGINE LIGHT CAR WITH SQUILLEY lines behind it have took it jeep for diagnostic cleared all codes drove fine for 2 weekswas told it has something to do with transmission took to 2 different transmission shops not the transmission now it has started cutting off as im driving the ELECTRICAL THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT will come on and it will cut off in traffic I looked online the same problems im having was on the recall list but not my vin.how is that i called earlier and talked to rep.she said my vin.was not up there dont understand how not when its doing everything thats on the list.i was told at first it was my wheel speed sensor replaced all 4 then spark plugs and wiresthen one day while i was driving there was a popping noise took to mech. thought wheel speed sensor broke or came off took off tire nothing was wrong couldnt find a problem under vehicle

Our dealership, Billion Motors ran diagnostics after I indicated that my service 4WD light had been on, and found out that I needed a new transfer case. Jeeps from 2017 to 2019 have a known transfer case issue and my Jeep is a 2019 and unfortunately the serial number is not listed in the recall. This is a huge security risk as I'm afraid that my vehicle will slip out of gear and heading into winter my AWD is not working due to this part failure. (I live in the midwest where we receive a lot of snow!) I'm concerned that this part has been on order since June of this year and it's now the end of November and hasn't been received it. This is a huge security risk going into the winter plus anytime I park. My vehicle only has 67,000 miles on it.

My Jeep will accelerate forward when breaking, stall at a red light and roll back, massive humming and grinding on the peddle, start/stop failure and failure to start. I've been able to avoid two crashes so far and used my own scanner to detect the problem. Nothing comes up. I bought this shady vehicle oct/3/25. dates of incidents include oct 3rd- November 10th.
