2019 Jeep Cherokee

While driving the vehicle, I heard a loud clunk, and it continued as I drove. Luckily, I was driving in town. I had to slow down and took the vehicle straight home and then took it to the dealership when I could get an appointment. The dealership examined the vehicle and determined the noise was coming from the transfer case and internal gear failure. I was told it was not drivable until this was fixed. There were no warning identifiers before this happened.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure via emails, and the contact also sent an email to the CEO of Jeep. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. While driving onto the highway vehical 4wd service light came on with loss of power like the transmission or ptu was in natural motor rpms came up without power to the wheels trying to merge ptu engaged with a loud clunk and jerk then started to make a clicking noise 10 miles after. Replaced cv axles and replacing drive shaft. Finding out the ptu needs to be replaced due to a faulty clip that caused worn splines loss of traction causing further unsafe driving issues. Having the vehical brought to the dealership.

I took my Jeep in 2 months ago for an oil change and routine systems check. I was informed that the rear-end differential had excessive play and was failing. There were no prior warning signs or alarms to alert me. After only 75,000 miles, the rear-end differential is failing. I have taken in the Jeep to a Jeep dealer and they performed an inspection and confirmed the failure. the dealer stated specifically that it was due manufacturing error. Both the dealer and two different repair services confirmed that it cannot be repaired and must be replaced. The vehicle is unsafe to drive in it's current condition. However, a replacement part cannot be obtained as thousands of people are waiting on replacements.

While driving down the interstate, my wife’s car just died in the middle of the highway, no life or lights of any kind. Luckily we got it started again and made it home. Second time it happened, the car shut off on the highway and would not restart. Had to have it towed home, tried taking it to our local Dodge dealership and they said since there’s no”active codes” they couldn’t do anything and sent us on our way. The car has a mind of its own and shuts off and or starts up whenever it wants. The care had a few codes when sent to dealership, service throttle control, lost function in fuel pedal, check engine light was on, start/stop needs serviced, and now the key fobs aren’t working, the car won’t start, acts like the battery is dead when we just had a brand new battery put in. This has happened 3 times to my family and it’s very uneasy when we’re stuck on the side of the highway as a hazard with no hazard lights working, and the car is dead in its tracks with no power whatsoever so ever. I’ve read many forums where more people are having this issue. I’m over the fact that we can’t get an answer to what’s going on, when we are paying for such a high quality vehicle and are having but none stop problems with it. I’ve also had to put a rear differential in the car at 80,000 miles. I’m just hoping to get some answers before something catastrophic happens to my family or someone else on the highway.

While idling, especially at red lights or in park, my 2019 Jeep Cherokee vibrates noticeably. This happens almost daily, and the vibrations are felt throughout the cabin, particularly through the steering wheel and seat, and has caused my phone to fall off its mount while driving. The issue has been consistent and now appears to interfere with the Auto Start-Stop feature. On several occasions, the vehicle has struggled to restart after the engine auto-shuts off at a traffic light, raising concerns about reliability and safety. I brought the vehicle to a Jeep dealer, and I was told that because this is not a recall issue, there is nothing they can do. No warning lights or diagnostic codes were found. However, the problem persists and affects the vehicle’s comfort and function. It also poses a potential safety risk due to distraction and instability at idle. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance. The component is available for inspection upon request.

The system that failed is the power train. More specifically, the PTU or (Power Transfer Unit) has failed twice. The first time the failure happened, the car had 70,000 miles on the odometer. The Issue presented itself as a “SVC 4WD” warning light on the instrument cluster, followed by a “4-wheel drive system unavailable” annunciation on the instrument cluster. There was a clear loss of power as a result, Sluggish response of the accelerator and shifting of gears in drive, loss of fuel economy. The issue was confirmed by the dealer. The dealer indicated there was a failure of the PTU, where its motor was locking up and PTU systems failure. The car was still under power train warranty at the time and was repaired - PTU was replaced — After having the problem repaired and faulty PTU system replaced in March 2022 under power train warranty at 70,000 miles, the problem has come back. The problem is identical to the first time. The car currently has approximately 140,000 miles on the odometer, 70,000 miles since the PTU was replaced. Once again, I have a “SVC 4WD” light and “4-wheel drive unavailable” annunciation on the instrument cluster. I brought the car to the dealer and was informed the service code was for the same issue as before, faulty PTU and PTU motor locking up. Loss of power, sluggishness shifting and in acceleration. The diagnosis is to replace the PTU This is two full PTU failures, each at 70,000 miles usage on the odometer at the time of failure. Loss of drive power and 4-wheel drive capability present a clear safety risk, entering the freeway causing a danger to myself and others with sluggish acceleration, or driving in inclement weather conditions where 4-wheel drive is necessary. Problem has been verified by the dealer on multiple occasions. I invite the full inspection of the vehicle which is in near new condition with 140,000 miles. Two failures of this same exact system with the same service code 70,000 miles apart. Part is defective and unsafe
