I WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BECAUSE OF IT. THIS SAME ISSUE HAPPENED IN EITHER OCTOBER OR NOVEMBER. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT, I SPOKE TO THE PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME I PROBABLY NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE. I GOOGLED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL THAT WOULD CAUSE THE SAME PROBLEMS I WAS HAVING. I PRESENTED TO THE DEALER THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT BUT IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY RESOLVED. ALMOST ONE YEAR LATER I'M HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. IT'S DANGEROUS. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE ENGINE WAS DESIGNED TO CUT OFF TO PROTECT THE ENGINE IF THE OIL IS LOW. THE ENGINE IN THESE CARS ARE A 2.4 TIGER SHARK ENGINE. THE DEALER REPLACED IT WITH A 2.4 MULTI-AIR ENGINE, POWER THE DEALER THIS SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF THE ENGINE BURNING AN AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL. BOTH 2.4 ENGINES ARE DESIGNED TO SHUT OFF IF THERE IS A LOW AMOUNT OF OIL. THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT A CAR WOULD SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING TO PROTECT ITSELF BUT THAT DOESN'T PROTECT THE DRIVER/PASSENGERS IT ACTUALLY PUTS THEM IN HARMS WAY.*DT *AS

WHILE DRIVING THIS MORNING AT 70 MPH MY 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE 2.0 TURBO LOST ALL POWER, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. I FOUGHT TO PULL IT OFF THE ROAD. I BOUGHT THIS CAR LAST OCTOBER 12TH, THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER PER YOUR SITE SINCE OCTOBER 19TH OF LAST YEAR. IT STATES CHRYSLER WAS SUPPOSED TO REACH OUT TO PURCHASERS REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND NOW ALMOST A YEAR LATER I HAVE HEARD NOTHING. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Jeep Cherokee vehicles. The power transfer unit (PTU) may fail.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A failed PTU may result in a loss of drive power or vehicle rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Remedy: Dealers will update the Drivetrain Control Drivetrain Control Module, PTU, and Electronic Park Brake software, and replace the PTU, as necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed June 25, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy becomes available. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 40D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning May 14, 2026.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Jeep Cherokee vehicles. The power transfer unit (PTU) may become damaged and disengage the transmission and differential, resulting in a loss of drive power and/or loss of park function.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash. A loss of park function can cause an unintended vehicle rollaway, which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.

The engines in these vehicles may be missing valve stem keepers, which can allow the valve to drop into the engine cylinder causing engine damage. These engines may also have a reversed camshaft cap that can damage the camshaft bearing causing camshaft failure.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Cylinder damage or camshaft failure can cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
