Additionally, the vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where the air compressor was replaced due to heating system failure. The contact stated that the instrument panel failure recurred intermittently. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was overheating. The check engine warning light was illuminated and the message "Engine Overheating" was displayed. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with engine misfire. Our Tucson was stolen in Charlotte, NC on [XXX]. The pax rear window was broken and the thieves broke open the steering column to start the car. It appears they used the well-known "Tik-Tok" method. I have record that our Tucson had the "software update" installed, at a local dealership, a year ago. This update (which should've been a recall) was supposed to address this issue. Despite this update, the car was stolen in less than 2 minutes (I have Ring camera pictures with timestamps). I have doubts now that the dealership actually did the update. Part of the update includes a specific window sticker that is to be applied to the driver's door window. That decal is missing. There is no evidence that it was ever there (I have pictures). The car was recovered but cannot be driven. It must be towed due to the damage. Another concern is the engine and drive train. Criminals were out joy riding in our stolen car on an almost full tank of gas. Because the car cannot be driven, I don't know if there is any damage to any part(s) of the drive train. We are now waiting for our insurance company to arrange to have the car repaired. I am very concerned now about the long term viability and reliability of this car. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? > While driving, the following systems fail and become inoperable sporadically: blind-spot safety system, tire pressure monitoring system, smart cruise control system, lane following assist system, speed limit warning system, shifter system malfunction, infotainment system, HVAC controls and turn signals. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? > I lose access to all safety systems and am unable to see anything on my dashboard while every single light flashes on the dash. Being unable to utilize my turn signals is dangerous because I must restart the vehicle for the issue to be resolved. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? > The problems were confirmed - but NOT reproduced by the Hyundai certified service center. They stated that they can see logs of the issues and were unable to diagnose the specific failures without the warning lights being actively present. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? > Yes. It was sold to me as a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle directly from a Hyundai dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? > The warnings and failures appeared at 64,752 miles, which is less than 5,000 miles after the warranty coverage ended. I purchased the vehicle with 64,300 miles. The issues began less than 500 miles after purchase.

NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after March 1, 2021.On January 27, 2023, NHTSA opened Defect Petition (DP) 22-005 to evaluate the subject matter described in the petition. On June 24, 2023 and as supplemented on June 25, 2023, the petitioner notified NHTSA he was withdrawing his petition. The petitioner indicated that, based on his review of data, there is no justification for asserting potential benefits that could be derived from actions sought by my petition.
