2026 Hyundai Palisade

With 2100 miles on the Hyundai Palasade Calligraphy Hybrid, we were driving on a well established dirt and gravel road when we experienced a loud pop or bang. We saw nothing in the road ahead in the form of a pot hole or protruding rock, etc. A minute later, a low tire pressure warning light came on. The tire went flat. Upon close inspection there was a cut like slit in the tire just below the bead line of the wheel rim. A look back on the road traveled, produced no clear obstruction that might have caused this. Our assessment of this is a sidewall blowout. This new vehicle comes with no spare tire. Only a pump and container of sealant. Installation of this failed to restore the tire for obvious reasons. This Pirelli 265 45R21 Scorpion MS tire is rare and not in stock anywhere. We had to tow our vehicle 50 miles to a Hyundai dealer who told us we had to wait for them to order a tire. We have spent close to $400.00 in Expenses and still did not pay for a tire yet. Searching the web reveals similar problems with this tire. This has resulted in a negative customer experience with the vehicle and Hyundai alike.

I have a 2026 Hyundai palisade- at the time of the incident, the car has 7,500 or so miles. I had a slow leak in one of the tires and took it to a tire repair shop- he pointed that not one, but all four tires had sidewalk bubbles in them, with some tires having more than one bubble. He said it was highly unusual for that to occur and suggested reaching out to Pirelli and/or the dealer for warranty service on them. I reached out to Pirelli and they advised me to take it to the dealer. The dealer claimed it was a Pirelli issue and I’d need to contact them directly and were unable to service the tires. The person at the dealer also said it was unusual and mentioned that others with the same tires had the same issue. I’m let scrambling my head trying to figure all this out.

Two original equipment Pirelli Scorpion MS 265/45 R21 108V tires developed sidewall bulges within 4,582 miles of normal road use, all within 5 days of each other. No off-road driving. No significant impacts. Vehicle was brand new. Failures: front left, rear left, and both right side tires within the same week (blew up as a parked to the curb on the low speed-and where dismissed at the Americas tire as an impact damage) Two tires submitted for Pirelli warranty inspection: Tire 1: Beltran Tires, Modesto CA. Pirelli claim #XXX. Denied via customer service email only — no technical report, no inspector name, no methodology provided. Conclusion: "ply breakage due to impact." Tire 2: America's Tire, Seaside CA. Delivered to Pirelli facility McDonough GA, Feb 26 2025, UPS #[XXX]. No determination issued to date. Dealer refused tire submission for weeks. Corporate escalation and Pirelli technical intervention required before pickup occurred. Out of pocket costs: $420 (Beltran, mileage confirmed 4,582) and $2,387.57 (4x Michelin replacement, America's Tire order #XXX). Total loss: $2,807.57. Also my vehicle had to be towed and I had to pay out of pocket for that as well. Four sidewall failures under 5,000 miles on a new vehicle is a potential manufacturing defect and highway safety risk. Pirelli's denial lacks technical documentation. Requesting NHTSA investigate Pirelli Scorpion MS OE tires on 2026 Hyundai Palisade as possible defect pattern.
