2019 Honda Civic

While I was driving my 2019 Honda Civic Sport in active traffic, I suddenly lost control of the vehicle. The car starting jerking violently left to reach right and in a circle , causing me to be pulled and swayed across the freeway. The steering wheel became extremely loose and was spinning freely, and I was unable to control the direction the vehicle was traveling. The vehicle eventually swayed and carried me into the right lane gutter lane I was blessed to put the vehicle in park and come to a stop. This was extremely dangerous because I was surrounded by moving traffic and could not steer the vehicle to avoid other cars. I genuinely believed I could be seriously injured or killed. I am extremely fortunate that another vehicle did not strike me and my coworker who was in the passenger seat while my vehicle was moving uncontrollablly. This also happened to me in 2023 and I immediately swayed to right lane. The interaction was quicker because I was able to park into safety fast. Honda said nothing was wrong and never believed me. I can't drive this car. It will cause death.

Headgasket failure at extremely low miles due to poor or flawed design. Vehicle has a valley between the cylinders where the gasket sits begging to be blown out. The low mileage failure rate is tremendous causing numberous drivability issues while on the road. You loose entire throttle control every light on the dash comes on. Every advance system shuts down. You loose every assist feature. It’s all of a sudden and random as well. Pulled out on to the main highway 52 and my car just fell on its face. If I wouldn’t have been in an area safely and quickly to hurry and get out of the way of traffic. It could’ve seriously caused a big accident. Pulling out on a highway or interstate with everything being normal then bam you have no control of the vehicle is a very horrifying situation to have to be subjected to.

However, the vehicle did not stop, causing the contact's daughter to crash into the front driver side of another vehicle and both vehicles crashed into a wall. No warning lights illuminated. All of the air bag deployed. The contact sustained bruises on her face, 9 stitches on her right hand, and a bruised left knee which required medical attention. The contact did not go to the hospital by ambulance. The contact stated her daughter has suffered emotionally. The driver in the other vehicle did not seek medical attention at that time. JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AT 359XX MILES 3 DAYS AGO. AT 36,2XX MILES, WHILE DRIVING, ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON SAYING THERE WAS A FAILURE IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM, EMERGENCY BRAKE, TPMS, LANE DEPARTURE, BRAKE HOLD, HILL ASSIST, IMPACT SENSOR, EMISSIONS SYSTEM, POWER STEERING, AND THE INFORMATION SYSTEM ALL SHOWED AS MALFUNCTIONING. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING IT, THE NOTIFICATIONS STILL STAY ON.

TWICE WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH THE CRUISE CONTROL DROPPED OUT FOR NO REASON. I HAVE LOW PRESSURE ALARMS FOR NO REASON. THESE WERE ALWAYS WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I HAD 6 IN MAY AND JUNE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ON JULY 3, THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THAT AFTERNOON I HAD THE LOW PRESSURE ALARM COME ON FOR NO REASON TIRES AT AT NORMAL PRESSURE.

WHILE DRIVING (50+/- MPH) ON A TWO LANE STATE ROAD, MY 2019 HONDA CIVIC HATCHBACK SPORT CMBS (COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM) AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED, BRINGING MY VEHICLE VERY CLOSE TO A COMPLETE STOP FOR NO REASON I COULD SEE. THERE WERE NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME IN EITHER DIRECTION AND FORTUNATELY NO VEHICLE FOLLOWING OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED. CLEAR MORNING, NOTHING ON THE ROADWAY, NO WILDLIFE I SAW. DRY AND SUNNY, NO LEAVES, NO BREEZE, BARE PAVEMENT. A SWEET JUNE MORNING IN DUTCHESS COUNTY, NY. OUT OF THE BLUE THE CMBS ENGAGED AUTOMATICALLY APPLYING THE BRAKES SO HARD I COULD FEEL THE ABS KICKING ON AND IN MOMENTS I WAS AT A CRAWL, THEN THE CAR SIMPLY BEHAVED NORMALLY AGAIN. I'VE OWNED THIS CAR LESS THAN A WEEK. THERE IS NO MEANS PROVIDED TO SHUT THIS FEATURE OFF PERMANENTLY. THE ONLY WAY TO OVERRIDE THE CMBS IS TO MANUALLY TURN IT OFF EVERY TIME I RESTART THE CAR. IT RESETS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. THIS FEATURE MAY WIND UP CAUSING MORE REAR END COLLISIONS AS IT AVOIDS FRONT END COLLISIONS. WHAT WOULD THE CONSEQUENCES BE IF THAT SCENARIO HAPPENED WHILE ON A CURVE, DRIVING 50 MPH IN THE RAIN? OR IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON A HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH (OR FASTER) WHERE COMMUTERS TYPICALLY TAILGATE ACROSS THREE OR FOUR LANES OF TRAFFIC? THIS WAS MY VERY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH CMBS IN ANY VEHICLE AND I CONSIDER IT A TOTAL FAILURE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN IT CAN ENGAGE WITH SUCH FORCE WHILE IT'S A FALSE ALARM.
