2023 Ford F-150

I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2023 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly shifts violently, lurches from P to D, delayed shifting. This occurred while while driving under normal conditions creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration or propulsion. I believe this incident may be related to the known 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve problem. Ford technical information identifies axial movement of the CDF sleeve that can cause hydraulic-circuit leaks and harsh or delayed engagement and shifting. This condition can result in slipping, RPM flares, delayed engagement, unexpected gear changes, harsh downshifts, lurching, or loss of propulsion. This is a safety concern, not merely a transmission quality or reliability issue. Unexpected loss of propulsion or unpredictable shifting while merging, accelerating into traffic, crossing an intersection, turning, or traveling at highway speed can create a collision hazard. Because I personally experienced this unexpected transmission event, I request that NHTSA investigate the 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve condition in Ford F-150s. Please review Ford warranty claims, dealer repair records, transmission replacements, consumer complaints, and field-failure data to determine whether this is a safety defect requiring a recall. I believe owners should not have to wait for a potentially dangerous transmission failure before this known condition is addressed.

This is related to obtaining a timely repair for the following recall: Manufacturer Recall Number25S82 NHTSA Recall Number25V512 Ford lacks the parts to address the recall. My recall was confirmed by the dealer, photos taken and an order placed with Ford over one year ago, after trying to have the recall addressed at another dealer. The recall was issued on May 24, 2024 and all parts are still on backorder. This is a safety concern. I get notified weekly that my vehicle needs the repairs yet none of the dealers around me have parts.

While driving normally, the transmission suddenly lost the selected gear and rims spiked and then it violently slammed into gear. It feels like it thru my truck into a limp mode. It lost 5th would not catch it going up and down thru the gears. It happened randomly. This occurred while while accelerating to merge on the highway. It also kept going it in stop and go traffic on the interstate, creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration or propulsion. I believe this incident may be related to the known 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve problem. Ford technical information identifies axial movement of the CDF sleeve that can cause hydraulic-circuit leaks and loss of gears causing no propulsion and possibly causing a tragedy

The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and activating the passenger’s side turn signal, the turn signal lever started to stick. The contact researched online and located similar failures. The contact stated that the dealer was four hours away and was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Pirelli Tires on F150 prematurely cracking & failing w/only 16,700 miles on the tire. Tread barely has any wear. On Saturday evening XXX Left rear tire wall blew out & PSI on tire went from 35 to 0 in less than 1 second. Upon closer inspection, all tires have premature cracks in the walls & the concern is that they could also fail and explode at any moment. We were not traveling at a high speed when the rear tire wall failed, but things could have been very different if we had been a highway - without doubt a major accident would have occurred. Brought the truck immediately to Coggins Deland Ford on [XXX] on Monday morning XXX where I purchased F150 brand new about 30 months ago, there is only about 16,700 miles on the truck. I am well within the tire warranty that Ford offers for the tires & well within bumper to bumper. All 4 tires should be replaced per the Ford tire warranty as they show signs of defect. The dealer has only approved the replacement of the tire that blew out so far & instructed me to contact the tire manufacture about the other tires that are cracking at 16K miles - I contacted Pirelli and was told since the dealer is giving me a hard time, Pirelli provided me with a case number and told me to tell the dealership to file a claim which they already know to do. Ford should provide the tire warranty on the tires per their own policy that is clearly stated on [XXX]. The dealer at first tired to tell me the tire only has warranty for 12,000 but it is not true, Ford provides prorated warranty on new tires up to 36,000 miles - when I showed the tire warranty chart from [XXX]- the service manager agreed with me & told me the service rep didn't inform me correctly & apologized. I just want defective tires replaced per the warranty that I was promised when I purchased my truck, I want to feel safe driving. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the gear shifter was shifted into park; however, the shifter gear independently shifted into reverse. The vehicle crashed into the garage at the residence. The contact stated that the failure had occurred after the vehicle was reversed to attach the trailer to the vehicle. The contact was almost struck by the vehicle. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

While driving at speed, my vehicle experienced a severe safety hazard: the transmission jerked violently and the engine completely stalled on the road, causing an immediate loss of power. The dealership diagnosed the truck and stated that tree debris had plugged the cowl drains at the base of the windshield. Because the drains plugged, rainwater backed up and overflowed directly into the passenger cabin, soaking the Body Control Module (BCM) and crashing the central computer network. A vehicle's central computer network should not be engineered in a way that normal outdoor tree debris can completely flood an interior cabin module and cause a dangerous drivetrain shutdown while driving.

As I was stopping at an intersection for a redlight, the brakes locked up and the collision assist warning and another message came up on the screen. There were no cars in front of me at the intersection. This is the first time that this has ever happened and the truck has 32,665 miles. No servicing has been performed on this truck beyond oil changes and tire rotations.
