WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY BETWEEN 65 AND 75 MPH, STRONG EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN, THROUGH AC VENTS. THIS HAPPENS ALSO UPON ACCELERATION. THIS HAPPENS ON LONG ROAD TRIPS. THIS CARBON MONOXIDE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME WAS SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL NINE TIMES SO FAR. FIRST TIME WE WENT TO DEALERSHIP, THEY STATED THE HAD JUST GOT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THIS ISSUE. NO NOTIFICATION TO CONSUMERS. AS EVERYONE KNOWS, NO NOTIFICATION TO CONSUMERS IF NOT A RECALL. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND WE FEEL THAT THEY ARE IGNORING THE OBVIOUS. IT'S PASS DUE FOR AN INVESTIGATION. WE HAVE STARTED THE NECESSARY PROTOCOL FOR A REPURCHASE. WE DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT IS TOXIC TO OUR HEALTH.

THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN CONFIRMED TO EXIST IN BOTH A 2011 AND A 2014 FORD EDGE. WITH A PASSENGER WEIGHTING 72-75 LBS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIR BAG TURNS ON AND OFF DEPENDING ON HOW THE PASSENGER IS SITTING ON THE SEAT. THIS SAME PASSENGER HAS TRAVELED ALMOST 50,000 MILES IN A 2011 MUSTANG WHICH HAS A SIMILAR SENSOR SYSTEM AND HAS NEVER HAD THE AIR BAG TURN ON. WE ARE ABLE TO REPRODUCE THIS PROBLEM AT WILL. THIS INFORMATION SUGGESTS A PROBLEM IN THE FORD EDGE WITH THE SOFTWARE THAT MONITORS THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SENSORS AND DETERMINES WHEN TO TURN ON THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG. THIS WAS REPORTED TO FORD ON 07/22 AND WE CHECKED ON IT ON 09/23 AND THERE WAS NO UPDATE, INDICATING THAT THEY HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY ACTION ON THIS.

WHILE DRIVING, THE SPEED WAS AROUND 50MPS THE VEHICLE MADE A NOTICE ON THE DASH THAT SAID "LOW OIL PRESSURE" . IT THEN AT THE SAME MOMENT SLOWED DOWN FROM 50 TO 0 WITHIN ABOUT 50 FEET AND COMPLETELY LOST POWER STEERING ALMOST CAUSING A FATAL CRASH WITH A CHILD IN THE CAR. THE VEHICLE IS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AT AND HAS BEEN EVALUATED FOR MALFUNCTIONS. ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE HAS NOT SAID ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT HAPPEN OR WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND I FEEL EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE EVEN GOING SOMEWHERE WITH MY FAMILY KNOWING THIS HAS HAPPEN ONCE. I NEED TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM RECTIFIED BEFORE A FATAL CRASH TAKES ME AND MY FAMILY OUT. WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT GETTING A RECALL ON THIS?

I WAS DRIVING DOWN I-25 WITH MY SPOUSE DOING APPRX. 75MPH WHEN MY SUNROOF EXPLODED. WE ARE FORTUNATE NO ONE WAS INJURED. GLASS DID FALL ON MY HEAD AS I WAS TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. FORD REFUSES TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THE DEALERSHIP STATES IT EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE. FORD DOES NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM BUT JUST STATES IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IF THE COVERING WAS OPENED SOMEONE WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND HAS HAPPENED TO SEVERAL VEHICLES BUT FORD REFUSES TO DO A RECALL. IT IS GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE GETTING SERIOUSLY INJURED BEFORE FORD RECOGNIZES THE PROBLEM AS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.

Nov 10, 2020
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Explorer, 2014-2015 Taurus and 2014 Edge vehicles equipped with 2.0L or 2.3L engines and front wheel drive. The support bracket for the front drive axle halfshaft may fail.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: The failed bracket could result in a loss of park function which can cause unintended vehicle movement, and loss of motive power while driving which increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the link shaft bracket, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. Owners received an interim notification detailing safety risk December 8, 2020. A second letter will be mailed when parts become available in January 2021. The recall began February 2, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S63.

Jan 9, 2015
Ford Motor Company (Ford) notified the agency on January 8, 2015, that they are recalling certain model year 2014 Ford Escape vehicles manufactured April 15, 2014, to May 8, 2014, and 2015 Lincoln MKC vehicles manufactured April 21, 2014, to May 15, 2014. On April 30, 2015, Ford expanded the recall to cover an additional 45,505 vehicles, including certain model year 2014-2015 Ford Transit Connect vehicles manufactured November 11, 2013, to August 29, 2014, 2014-2015 Ford Fiesta vehicles manufactured April 10, 2014, to June 17, 2014 and 2014 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured April 30, 2014, to May 21, 2014. Improper nickel plating of components within the fuel pump may result in the fuel pump failing.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the fuel pump fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began on February 27, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14S30.
14V393000 · Power Train:axle Assembly:axle Shaft
Jul 2, 2014
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured September 2, 2010, to November 30, 2013; 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured August 25, 2011, to November 30, 2013; and 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured September 12, 2011, to November 30, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'Park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S10.

1PE15020 · Wheel Separation
Opened May 20, 2015 · Closed Jan 4, 2016
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Wheels:rim
On November 29, 2014, ODI received a complaint reporting the complete separation of an original equipment 22-inch alloy wheel rim mounted on the right front position of a model year 2014 Ford Edge vehicle (VOQ 10661278).The driver indicated that the right-front corner of the vehicle suddenly dropped while driving, causing the vehicle to go off the road to the right and into a field. The right-front wheel rim was found to have broken into two pieces. The owner said that there was no prior warning or wheel related problems with the vehicle. The vehicle had been driven approximately 8,500 miles at the time of the incident. On May 29, 2015 ODI sent an information request to Ford asking for detailed information related to the specific 22 inch alloy wheel used on the Edge as well as any peer vehicles which used the same type of wheel. On July 17, 2015 Ford provided ODI with the requested information. Ford's search showed that the single incident reported to ODI is the only instance of a wheel failure on the subject or peer vehicles. The failed wheel was sent to the National Transportation Service Board (NTSB) materials analysis laboratory for examination. The NTSB determined that the wheel failed because of a severe impact that caused a crack that rapidly propagated around the circumference of the wheel, The rim fracture surface had a predominantly rough appearance consistent with an overstress fracture (rapid fracture)There were no abnormalities or unique features associated with the fracture initiation site.Metallurgical analysis of the rim found that the material was within specification and no anomalies were identified that could have contributed to the failure.See the full NTSB report for more details.Based on the absence of additional failures and the results of the wheel material testing and failure analysis, this investigation is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist. The Agency will continue to monitor complaints and other information relating to the alleged defect in the subject vehicles and take further action in the future if warranted. The following VOQ is associated with this investigation: 10661278
