TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 WINNEBAGO ADVENTURER. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE GAUGES FAILED TO FUNCTION AND THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. IN ADDITION, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. AS A RESULT THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE FUSES, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 95E016005 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER HOIST COMPONENTS CAN BECOME LOOSE WHILE TRAVELING AND ALLOW THE SPARE TIRE TO MOVE FROM ITS STORED POSITION TO THE ROAD SURFACE.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THE SPARE TIRE CAN CONTACT THE ROAD SURFACE INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE FOLLOWING VEHICLES.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL ADD A PRIMARY SPARE TIRE SUPPORT BRACKET.
