The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was hesitating and shuddering, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with a transmission fault and that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the transmission failure was caused by a failure with the valve body and pressure solenoid. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 67,000.

The infotainment screen will randomly turn off while driving. The entire screen goes completely black and sometimes stays that way for several minutes. Up to 13 minutes with no way to display GPS information.

After pressing the gas pedal the car will not move forward and the motor does not respond as if it is getting any signal to move off. This happens intermittently and the dealership was not able to recreate after first reporting this issue. No warning indicators present the past 8 times this as occurred.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a detached driver’s front headlight lens. The contact was informed that the front driver’s headlight needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure impaired the driver's visibility while driving. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle had not been involved in a crash to cause the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Component(s) Involved: Front and rear subframe/crossmember, driveline (CV axles, differential), stability and traction control system (including yaw sensor, steering angle sensor, and Accessory Gateway ECU). Available for Inspection: Yes. The vehicle is available for inspection, and I have detailed photographs, video, screenshots, diagnostic scan reports, and live data logs documenting the issue. How Safety Was Put at Risk: The vehicle experiences severe vibration, uneven wheel acceleration, and deactivation of traction and stability control. This compromises braking, emergency handling, and overall stability — especially dangerous in rain, snow, or during evasive maneuvers. The alignment of the rear differential and axles is visibly off-center, indicating a shifted or bent subframe. These defects pose a risk of driveline damage or failure while driving. Was the Problem Confirmed by a Service Center? Yes, multiple Toyota dealerships and independent shops confirmed symptoms including vibration, tire wear, and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). However, no dealership has acknowledged or addressed the underlying subframe misalignment or driveline distortion. Some attempted to blame scan tools (Moses), while others dismissed the vehicle as “safe to drive” despite active faults (L&S Toyota) Has It Been Inspected by Manufacturer/Police/Insurance? It has been seen by manufacturer-affiliated dealers and independent mechanics, but not formally by Toyota Corporate or insurance. The prior owner also reported similar problems under warranty, indicating these issues existed before resale. --- Warning Lamps or Symptoms Before Failure: Yes. And no. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles. The second-row center and right-side seats may have insufficiently welded head restraint brackets. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A head restraint bracket that is insufficiently welded may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the 60% rear seat-back frame sub-assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 19, 2024. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24TB04 and 24TA04.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023 Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles. The lug nuts that attach the wheels to the vehicle may be loose, which can result in wheel detachment.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A wheel that detaches from a moving vehicle can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been performed. Dealers will inspect and tighten the lug nuts, and replace any damaged components, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on or before August 14, 2023. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 23TA05.
