Component/System: Structure – Cowl / Air Intake / Engine Issue: Water intrusion through cowl leading to intake flooding and engine hydrolock Summary of the Defect The vehicle experienced a catastrophic engine failure caused by water intrusion through the two piece cowl assembly. The seal between the two cowl sections failed, allowing rainwater to pour directly into the engine compartment. The intake manifold sits directly beneath this leak point and contains a recessed area where water can pool. After heavy rainfall, water entered the intake system and subsequently reached cylinders 2 and 4, causing the engine to hydrolock upon startup. The engine was rendered inoperable at only 29,139 miles. Detailed Description of the Incident The vehicle was parked outside an auto repair facility for a routine battery replacement. It was not driven during this period. Over the course of two heavy rain events, water entered the engine compartment through the failed seam in the two piece cowl. When the repair facility attempted to start the vehicle, the engine immediately hydrolocked. Upon disassembly: •The air intake tract was found full of water. •The intake manifold contained pooled water. •Cylinders 2 and 4 contained water. •The engine suffered internal damage consistent with hydrolock and was declared a total loss. All findings were documented by the mechanic, including photographs and diagnostic notes. Safety Concern This failure represents a serious safety defect. Water intrusion through a structural component should not be able to reach the intake manifold or engine cylinders under any circumstances — especially while the vehicle is stationary. A sudden hydrolock event can cause: •Immediate engine shutdown •Loss of motive power •Loss of power steering and braking assist •Potential loss of control if occurring while driving •Extremely costly engine destruction Inspected by mechanic. Nobody else. No warnings.

The engine cowl between the windshield and the hood has been failing since day 1. This is a 2023/2022 Promaster 2500/Winnebago Solis. Winnebago says RAM is responsible and RAM says it is a non issue. The engine bay floods every time it rains. I have to cover it in and out to hopefully prevent engine and computer damage. There are many hundreds of events of flooding and damage with no admission of cowl and windshield damage. With fires becoming more prevalant, I am concerned with a fire, a life threat to me and my family. We need some kind of help. Please check this all over the web. It is a problem for all Promaster. I only get a Non Issue from RAM AND NOTHING FROM Winnebago. I have sent pictures and videos to both. NOTHING BACK. Maybe there are people are knowable in fixing. I believe this is an extremely serious, life threating issue. Water and electricity never mixes. Please HELP.10

This is to report a safety report for a potentially serious, even fatal windshield, body, engine and transmission defect. Rain water pours down the windshield and floods the engine overcoming al engine parts especially electrical, transmission and engine parts that should remain dry and safe. Windshield to cowl to engine compartment will flood and overcome safety equipment. When driving in rain I received electronic messages of failure. Headlights flood which could lead to a disaster. Ram will not admit part failures, but the constant flooding is well documented. Please help the many thousands of Ram Promasters get a recall which can save lives and their vehicles. Research will give you hours and hours of similar series problems. Please help us get Stealantis/Ram to own up to this manufacturing mishap. Thanks

I'd like to report a safety issue with the RAM PROMASTER 3500 chassis. Ours is a Winnebago Solis PX Campervan. The sliding van side door is often impossible to open from the inside. There is a plastic lever that doesn't catch and is ineffective. I've been locked in many times after pulling and pulling on it and when the front seats are turned around for camping it's difficult to use the front doors to exit. Obviously, in case of an emergent need to get out of the van, this is dangerous. I've seen many other owners of this model complain of the same issue. I believe its serious enough to require a recall but in any event, it should be redesigned immediately. There has not to my knowledge by inspected by any of the entities you've listed though I don't know if others have complained to them. It is available for inspection. Thank you.
