95V177000 · Service Brakes, Air:controls, Pedals And Linkages

Sep 20, 1995

A STOP LIGHT SWITCH ON THE BRAKE TREADLE VALVE AND A CRUISE CONTROL DUMP VALVE SWITCH WERE OMITTED DURING ASSEMBLY OR BOTH SWITCHES WERE INSTALLED BUT WERE NOT WIRED CORRECTLY.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: IF A LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE OCCURS IN EITHER FRONT OR REAR BRAKE SYSTEM, THE RESULT OF THESE OMISSIONS IS THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL, IF TURNED ON, WOULD NOT DISENGAGE WHEN THE SERVICE BRAKE WAS APPLIED AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE, INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A SECOND STOP LIGHT SWITCH (WIRED IN PARALLEL) AND A SECOND CRUISE CONTROL DUMP VALVE SWITCH (WIRED IN SERIES) INTO THE TREADLE VALVE.
