TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 LOAD RITE UTILITY TRAILER. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE AXLE BECAME FRACTURED AND FELL OUT OF THE TRAILER. THE CONTACT PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND PURCHASED ANOTHER AXLE FOR $475. HE STATED THAT THE REPLACEMENT AXLE WAS A LOT HEAVIER THAN THE ORIGINAL AXLE. WHEN HE INFORMED THE MANUFACTURER, HE WAS ASKED …

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 LOAD RITE UTILITY TRAILER. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE AXLE BECAME FRACTURED AND FELL OUT OF THE TRAILER. THE CONTACT PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND PURCHASED ANOTHER AXLE FOR $475. HE STATED THAT THE REPLACEMENT AXLE WAS A LOT HEAVIER THAN THE ORIGINAL AXLE. WHEN HE INFORMED THE MANUFACTURER, HE WAS ASKED HOW LONG DID HE EXPECT THE TRAILER TO LAST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRAILER WAS ONLY USED TWICE AND A TOTAL OF TWELVE TIMES. HE FURTHER STATED THAT THE AXLE SHOULD NOT JUST FALL OUT. THE RECALL REPAIR FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 01E031000 (EQUIPMENT:MECHANICAL: WRECKER AND WHEEL LIFT DEVICES) WAS ALREADY PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. THE TRAILER WAS PURCHASED FROM A PRIVATE OWNER. NO OTHER VEHICLE INFORMATION WAS APPLICABLE. THE CONSUMER PROVIDED VARIOUS PHOTOS OF THE DEFECT. UPDATED 11/14/07 *TR
