The contact stated that while operating the vehicle and pressing the wiper fluid button, the wiper fluid did not immediately spray, and the contact was unable to immediately clean the front windshield. The contact stated the after several attempts the wiper fluid sprayer operated normally. Later, the front windshield wipers malfunctioned. The contact stated that when the front windshield wipers were activated in the continuous setting, the wipers were randomly delayed. Additionally, while activating the turn signal and the wipers the features were delayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed an electrical short in the wiper and turn signal mechanism, and that the mechanism needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 205,000. The VIN was invalid.

The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the front passenger’s side of the vehicle, and afterwards, the contact felt heavy vibrations coming from the steering wheel. After a visual inspection, the contact observed that the front passenger’s side tire casing had separated from the tread. The tires were taken to an independent mechanic, who failed to provide a diagnosis. The tire was replaced by Roadside Assistance. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was 362,000, and the tire failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact stated that while standing behind the passenger side seat in between the sleeper portion and the cab, there was an abnormally loud popping sound detected. The vehicle began to move and crashed into the door of an unknown tractor-trailer cab. The vehicle had been parked for approximately 45- 60 minutes before the crash. The contact had to seek medical assistance from a therapist due to the incident. There was no report of fire, airbag deployment, or police report filed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission was not operating properly. The contact stated that the vehicle downshifted unexpectedly with the transmission fault warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted; however, the failure recurred. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 338,388. The VIN was not available.

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Peterbilt 520, 579, and 2021-2025 Kenworth T680 trucks. The high voltage (HV) contactors may open, causing a sudden loss of high voltage and a loss of drive power.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the software and replace the electrical harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 13, 2025. PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Peterbilt 365, 367, 389, 535, 536, 537, 548, 567, 579, and 2021-2025 Kenworth T180, T280, T380, T480, T680, T880 and W990 trucks. The right-hand gear shifter stalk connectors may have been improperly crimped, resulting in a loss of communication.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A loss of communication between the gear shifter and the transmission may result in the vehicle becoming disabled after coming to a stop, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the gear shifter assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed December 15, 2025, then phased after that. PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2009-2021 Kenworth C500, 2012-2021 Kenworth T440, 2009-2015 Kenworth T660, 2015-2024 Kenworth T680, 2009-2024 Kenworth T800, 2009-2020 Kenworth T370, 2014-2023 Kenworth T880, 2011-2016 Kenworth T470, 2023 Kenworth T480, and 2009-2019 Kenworth W900 vehicles. The air tanks have an insufficient volume of air for the brake system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Insufficient air volume can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will install the correct volume air tanks, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 12, 2024. Additional owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2025. PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Peterbilt 579 and 2023 Kenworth T680 vehicles. Incorrect software in the battery electric heavy duty electronic stability control program may underestimate the mass of the vehicle. As such, these vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 136, "Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: An incorrect estimate of the vehicle mass can reduce the performance of the stability control system and increase the risk of a crash.

The digital display may freeze and not display critical safety information. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101, "Control and Displays" and 102, "Trans Shift Lever Seq/Starter Interlock/Trans Braking Effect."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: The loss of display information, such as vehicle speed and warning lights, can increase the risk of a crash.

The engine control module (ECM) may experience an internal electrical short-circuit, causing the engine to stall.

Consequence & remedy

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Kenworth T170, T270, T280, T370, T380, T440, T470, T480, T680, T800, T880, W900, W990, C500, and 2022-2023 Peterbilt 325, 330, 337, 348, 365, 367, 389, 520, 536, 537, 548, 567, and 579 vehicles. The steering gears may have been assembled incorrectly, which can cause the gears to fracture.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A fractured steering gear can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the steering gear serial numbers, and replace the steering gears as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 26, 2022.
