The factory-installed 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen/display in my 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee is delaminating internally causing bubbling under the screen surface. The layers of the touchscreen are separating even though the screen has not been physically damaged. The Uconnect system and vehicle are available for inspection upon request. The delamination affects the touchscreen used to operate and display multiple vehicle functions. As the screen deteriorates, it can become difficult to read or operate and may result in unintended or “ghost” touchscreen inputs. This can create a driver distraction while the vehicle is moving and may interfere with the driver’s ability to reliably use information and functions displayed through the Uconnect system, including the rear-view camera display when backing up. The condition appears to be progressive and raises concern that the display could become increasingly unreliable. Yes. The vehicle was presented to an authorized Jeep dealership, and the delamination of the factory Uconnect touchscreen was confirmed. The dealership also attempted to determine whether Stellantis would provide repair cost assistance, but advised that its system would not allow a goodwill request because of the vehicle's expired warrenty. The car is only 6 years old and has less than 60,000 miles. Stellantis refuses to provide any assistance. Jeep dealership states it is a $1500 repair. The vehicle and Uconnect screen have been inspected by an authorized Jeep dealership. The vehicle has not been inspected directly by Stellantis, police, or an insurance representative. There were no warning lamps or vehicle warning messages before the screen began delaminating. The first noticeable symptom was visible separation/bubbling within the touchscreen display. The condition has progressively worsened. There was no impact, physical damage, or other event that caused the screen to separate. Symptoms first appeared in August 2026.

I am reporting a safety defect involving the Uconnect touchscreen in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Due to screen delamination, the display can lag or freezes, including the rearview camera image. When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, the camera images can be delayed, frozen, or not updating in real time. This results in the screen showing an inaccurate view of what is actually behind the vehicle, creating a serious safety hazard. Objects, pedestrians, or vehicles can enter the rear path after the image freezes but will not appear on the display. This defect creates a false sense of safety and undermines the purpose of the federally required rear visibility system. The failure occurs intermittently without warning, making the rearview camera unreliable when it is needed most. This is a known defect affecting Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with Uconnect displays, not normal wear and tear. The manufacturer has not provided an adequate recall or permanent fix. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue as a systemic safety defect that increases the risk of backover collisions.

The front glass panel of the panoramic sunroof spontaneously shattered. The car was going approximately 45-50 mph when a loud "bang" was heard. Broken glass could be heard inside the closed sunroof liner. Upon inspection, there was no physical damage to the front end of the car, hood, or roof indicating that something may have struck the car. An inspection of the sunroof showed a sizable hole in the middle of the sunroof glass panel with accompanying cracks in the sunroof safety glass. The car can be inspected upon request. The safety of the driver and passengers could have been compromised if the sunroof shade/liner was retracted. The problem has not been reproduced although the dealer has confirmed that incidences such as this have occurred. The vehicle has not been inspected at this time, but an inspection is scheduled. There were no warning lamps or other notifications alerting the driver to the malfunction

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L Diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 3, 2023. Some owner notification letters were mailed October 31, 2023. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a future date, anticipated July 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 66A. This recall is an expansion of recall 20V-475.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 2014-2019 Ram 1500 vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. A high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failure may introduce internal debris into the fuel system, potentially resulting in fuel starvation.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the HPFP, and inspect and replace, if necessary, additional fuel system components, free of charge. Interim notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed July 21, 2022. Owner notification letters for were mailed for Jeep Grand Cherokee owners starting January 11, 2024. Owner notification letters for Ram 1500 owners were mailed March 7, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLS's number for this recall is Z46.

20V191000 · Back Over Prevention: Sensing System: Camera

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2020 Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Cherokee, 2019-2020 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Renegade and 2019 Dodge Challenger vehicles equipped with 8.4" or 12" radio displays. A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: The lingering rearview image can distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will update the radio display software, free of charge. Optionally, owners can choose to remotely update their software via an Over-The-Air (OTA) update available as of May 1, 2020. The recall began April 27, 2020. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE21-021 on October 14, 2021, to investigate incidents alleging a stall/loss of motive power as a result of high-pressure fuel pump failures in certain model year (MY) 2019-2020 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 heavy duty trucks equipped with 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel engines. During the investigation, ODI sought to determine if the related defect allegation was limited in scope to the recalled population. After review of information request response materials from both FCA and BMW, NHTSA determined that sufficient information to identify a comprehensive recall population could not be produced by FCA and BMW.During the investigation FCA filed recalls 22V406, 22E048, 22V767, and 22E087 which include vehicles not identified in the initial subject population by ODI. ODI also received recall 21V586, involving loss of motive power due to failed CP4 fuel pumps on certain BMW manufactured vehicles. An information request letter response received from BMW indicated that failed pumps on their vehicles were caused by an interaction between pump internal components and US market diesel fuel, leading to increased slip and eventual particle-generating wear surface.
