TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HYUNDAI XG350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE ERRONEOUSLY ACCELERATED TO A VERY HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND THE CONTACT COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE BY APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO TRAVEL THROUGH AN INTERSECTION WHERE A SECOND VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE BACK. THE DRIVER OF THE SECOND VEHICLE INVOLVED IN THE CRASH SUSTAINED MINOR HEAD INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SIDE AND FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BUT THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG AND ACCELERATION FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
