The car was backing out of a driveway in Reverse. Came to a stop to shift to drive, and recieved a "shift system malfunction! Service immediately" screen message and the car was locked in the middle of the roadway unable to be put into any gear or be turned off. It was a huge roadway safety issue. The tow driver had to search for a code or sequence of commands to put it into neutral to be able to be safely lifted onto the tow bed, and the vehicle was stuck in accessory mode, which effectively drained the battery.

Three power window regulators have failed on my 2016 Hyundai Tucson within a six-month period. The front driver and front passenger windows both failed first and required replacement. The rear driver-side window has now also failed and is currently stuck in the open position. When the failures occur, the window will move up slightly but then drop back down or will not stay closed, indicating a failure of the regulator mechanism rather than normal wear. The fact that multiple window regulators have failed in a short period suggests a defect or premature failure of this component. This creates a safety concern because one window is stuck open, exposing the vehicle interior to weather, reducing security, and potentially affecting driver visibility and safe operation. This appears to be a known issue with this model year, but my vehicle is not included in any recall.
The display screen for the instrument cluster goes off for 3 seconds every 1 or 2 minutes. It leaves me without a speedometer, side safety cameras, or vehicle information.
There has been an urgent safety recall with no fix for 4 months. I need the issue to be resolved so that my vehicle is no longer a safety hazard, but both the dealership I purchased it from and the manufacturer have stated that it's not a big deal.

Vehicle has failed to start with NO WARNING LIGHTS (completely blank infotainment screen) and no sounds when start button is pressed. Vehicle also completely shuts down when stopping in traffic and takes several attempts at restarting before the vehicle actually starts and able to move. This is a SEVERE LIFE THREATENING OR SERIOS INJURY SITUATION that Hyundai seems to have no interest in solving. Incidents have been video when safety is not an issue.

I am writing to formally document a serious, recurring safety defect in ou 2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, purchased less than a month ago. The vehicle has now exhibited multiple distinct dashboard warning faults related to the electronic shifter system, has left me stranded on more than one occasion, and has been sitting at Schomp Hyundai in [XXX] , for the second time, for over one week, with no resolution. The dealership has been unable — or unwilling — to properly diagnose the issue despite photographic documentation of the active fault warnings and the existence of Hyundai-issued Technical Service Bulletins directly addressing this problem. This letter serves as formal written notice pursuant to Colorado's Lemon Law (C.R.S. § 42-10-101 et seq. Since taking delivery, I have experienced multiple occurrences of two distinct dashboard fault warnings on this vehicle. Both have been photographically documented with date-stamped images: • "Shifter System Malfunction! Service Immediately" — The vehicle became inoperable and could not shift gears, leaving me stranded. "PARK Malfunction. Engage parking brake when parking vehicle." — A secondary fault indicating failure of the electronic park system, creating a serious safety hazard. These faults are not related to any collision or external damage. They are pre-existing manufacturing defects that began occurring in the first week of purchase. Notably, this is a known and documented issue affecting Hyundai Tucson Hybrid models. Hyundai has issued Technical Service Bulletins TSB #21-AT-007H and TSB #21-AT-009H. I drove the vehicle approximately 8 times (including to and from the repair center) and have had the issue multiple times.I am formally requesting the following immediate actions: • Direct the dealership to perform a complete GDS historical DTC scan per TSB #21-AT-007H and #21-AT-009H and provide full written results. While driving, I accelerated to merge onto the highway. The check engine light flashed a few times and the engine started wobbling like it was misfiring. I have also been having a parasitic drain on my auxiliary batter that makes the car not open to my key fob that I know works. The dealership told me it was bad fuel, but they “tested the fuel” with no diagnostic report/proof/records, saying that the fuel was bad and had a high concentration of 5% alcohol. They re-did the test and took pictures which shows the fuel is within tolerance but no diagnostic report and are refusing to complete a warranty checkup on my engine/electrical system. Also, the misfires with acceleration due to merging has happened 3 times. From the start back in July 2025 till now.

The car is dead if you do not drive it every 4 days. The battery and system have no power. It has happened multiple times over the past year. Have taken the car to Castle Hyundai of Downers Grove, IL. To date no resolution has been reached wh6 my car looses power. The dealer ran computer checks. Verified the battery had to be reset multiple times. Could not identify any issues with battery or hev system. Contacted Hyundai. Support stated their technical specialist conclusion waste make sure i drive the car for a half hour every other day. That was their "resolution". A car should be able to sit in a garage under normal temperatures for longer than 4 days without the battery system being dead for unknown reasons. The car is unreliable and does not meet safety standards as if they don't know why it's battery system is dead if it sits what to say it won't happen when I am driving down the highway.
All dash warning lights are on and dash lights have a intermittent bright light surge. Hard to shut off engine and have to disconnect battery for electric power to shut off. Very noticeable hesitation in acceleration starting to drive

NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after March 1, 2021.On January 27, 2023, NHTSA opened Defect Petition (DP) 22-005 to evaluate the subject matter described in the petition. On June 24, 2023 and as supplemented on June 25, 2023, the petitioner notified NHTSA he was withdrawing his petition. The petitioner indicated that, based on his review of data, there is no justification for asserting potential benefits that could be derived from actions sought by my petition. Based on the petitioner's withdrawal, DP22-005 is closed. Closure of this DP does not represent a determination by NHTSA regarding the subject matter of the petition.
