The panoramic roof glass on my 2024 Hyundai Palisade shattered unexpectedly while the vehicle was stationary or just beginning to move. I did not observe any object striking the vehicle, nor was the vehicle involved in a collision. The glass continued to fall into the passenger compartment, creating a potential safety hazard for occupants. The vehicle can still be operated; however, dust, water, and other debris can enter the vehicle through the damaged roof. There were no warning signs, unusual noises, cracks, or other symptoms prior to the failure. The incident occurred on September 9, 2026, at approximately 37,900 miles. I have scheduled a dealership inspection for this week, and a case has already been opened with Hyundai Customer Care. The dealer's inspection is currently pending.

Beginning XXX, at only 3,954 miles, I began experiencing a recurring defect in which the front windshield wipers freeze, stick, or stop moving mid-stroke while the vehicle is being actively driven. This is most dangerous during heavy/pouring rain, when losing wiper function eliminates my ability to see the road ahead. I have brought the vehicle to Freehold Hyundai ([XXX] [XXX]) eight separate times for this same defect: - XXX (3,954 mi): reported, dealer could not verify, no action - XXX (8,620 mi): reported, dealer could not verify, no action - XXX (9,335 mi): reported, dealer could not verify, no action - XXX (15,748 mi): reported, dealer checked wipers, reported "operating normal" - XXX (48,329 mi): both front wipers not operating normally, windshield linkage flagged as cause - XXX (48,901 mi): wiper arm found bent; arm and linkage replaced - XXX (53,512 mi): noise from wipers, factory wipers recommended - XXX (55,843 mi): wiper arm moving slow and stopping mid-stroke; technician found high electrical resistance in the wiper motor cond internal/electrical failure, but the defect continues to occur. I have video documentation of the wipers freezing while driving in the rain. This is an ongoing, unresolved safety hazard. Windshield accumulated a lot of pitting in a certain area while driving within the first 27,000 miles. Noticed this after washing wind shield of bugs. One pit expanded to a 1/2 inch crack when turning into the driveway, just off the drivers side lower edge. It later expanded to the edge and and half way across the windshield.

I do not recall anything hitting windshield that could cause it to crack. Took car to Hyundai dealer. They looked at it and said it had been hit. Has a very small spot. I do not recall ever having anything hit windshield. I believe it cracked spontaneously for no apparent reason. If it was hit it was a very small something that should not have caused windshield to crack. If windshield cracks that easily, it is unsafe.

The windshield (visibility system) on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson (VIN: [XXX] ) was cracked on [XXX]. I immediately contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle (in New York), and later local Hyundai dealers in Florida where I now reside. I was informed that the windshield is on a nationwide OEM backorder with no estimated time of arrival (ETA). As of August 6, 2025, the part remains unavailable, and the vehicle has been inoperable for 57 days, parked in my garage. The crack makes the vehicle unsafe to drive, and due to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as lane keeping assistance and forward collision warning, the windshield requires proper OEM calibration post-installation, which cannot be performed until the correct part is secured. The issue was confirmed by multiple Hyundai dealers and 3rd-party glass installers, all of whom indicated they are unable to acquire the correct windshield due to Hyundai’s ongoing parts shortage. No resolution has been provided by Hyundai corporate. Although one vendor was referenced by the dealer, they too did not have the part available locally. Hyundai has offered limited rental reimbursement, but not enough to cover costs during this extended downtime. No inspection has been conducted by the manufacturer or insurance company beyond initial confirmation of the damage. No warning lights or messages preceded the incident — the issue is entirely due to the unavailability of a critical OEM part, making the vehicle unsafe and unusable. I am paying monthly for a financed vehicle that cannot be driven due to a manufacturing and supply chain failure beyond my control. While driving at highway speeds, the sunroof spontaneously shattered. No rocks/debris were found to have caused the sunroof to shatter and we were not manipulating the sunroof in any manner. Luckily, the manually operated internal sunroof cover was in place, or more shattered glass could have entered the two front seats which were occupied. We could have ingested shards of glass, been cut by flying glass, or shards could have entered our eyes, causing a major incident/accident. We could have panicked and swerved aggressively, as the incident was loud and shocking, causing an accident to either us or the surrounding highway traffic. The closest manufacturers shop to the incident did not have the replacement part on hand, so we had to wait until we returned home for replacement parts. The problem was reported to the dealer and the manufacturer inspected the shattered sunroof. Since this is a relatively new vehicle (2024) with appx. 22,000 miles, the manufacturer is covering the repair as a warranty item, no need for an insurance claim. No police report was filed/needed. No warning lamps, annunciations, or aural alerts were heard/visible prior to the sunroof failure.

Sunroof randomly shattered in closed position on highway. I have pictures that show the glass bowing outward toward the sky instead of bowing toward inside the car indicating a object did not hit my sunroof. I also have pictures and videos of the sunroof and moment leading to glass shattering also proving it was not caused by an object. It is a serious issue because my sunroof was closed and my family was in the car. It couldve caused serious injury to the eyes if the inside slide cover wasnt closed as well. Something has failed causing this and I dont wish serious injury on anyone. I will be seeing my dealer tomorrow 4/22/25 huntington hyundai in new york to further evaluate it. There was no prior warning or symptoms before the exploding sunroof.
