2024 Hyundai Palisade

While driving the 2024 Hyundai Palisade, the steering wheel suddenly locks up, resulting in an immediate loss of steering control creating an immediate safety hazard. The steering wheel becomes completely rigid, making it impossible to turn left or right. This condition feels as though the power steering system has completely stopped working. Simultaneously, multiple warning lights appear on the dashboard. To avoid an accident, the driver must physically muscle the rigid steering wheel to force the vehicle onto the right-side shoulder of the road. Once safely stopped, turning the engine completely off and restarting it seems to temporarily resolve the problem. After the re-start, the warning lights disappear, and the steering wheel operates normally again. This problem (loss of steering wheel control) has occurred 5 times randomly and intermittently (each time while driving). The first 2 times this problem occurred was in September 2024 and it was taken to a Hyundai dealership and the problem was reported (repair #1 dated 9/30/2024, mileage 13603). Next, the vehicle was in the dealership for repair of the Forward Collison Light / Low Battery (repair #2 dated 11/22/2024, mileage 14899). Next, the vehicle was in the dealership for replacement of the Front Radar Sensor (repair #3 dated 12/05/2024, mileage 15353). Next the vehicle's steering wheel locked up on 9/18/2025, mileage 24370 (3rd time). Next the vehicle's steering wheel locked up on 5/24/2026, mileage 31714 (4th time). Next the vehicle was in the dealership for regular maintenance and to investigate the steering wheel lock up that occurred on 5/24/2026 (repair #4 dated 5/27/2026, mileage 31798). Next the vehicle's steering wheel locked up on 6/04/026, mileage 31946 (5th time). Next the vehicle was in the dealership to replace the steering column control module or power pack electric (repair #5 dated 6/04/2026, mileage 31985).

I am filing a vehicle safety complaint regarding a 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy due to repeated safety-related mechanical failures and ongoing defects that create dangerous and unpredictable driving conditions. Since purchase in August 2024, the vehicle has experienced multiple serious issues, including steering rack problems causing sticking, resistance, abnormal noises, and inconsistent steering response while driving. The vehicle has also experienced rear automatic braking/sensor malfunctions causing sudden stopping and grinding during operation, creating unsafe driving conditions and concerns about unintended braking behavior. Additional issues include transmission and gear engagement concerns, engine replacement under recall, infotainment system replacement, ongoing recall-related concerns, and excessive tire wear requiring replacement of all four tires at approximately 29,000 miles. The premature tire wear raises concerns regarding possible steering, suspension, alignment, or drivetrain defects. There are also concerns involving unusually fragile windshield and window glass, which appears to be a commonly reported issue among Hyundai Palisade owners. Despite repeated dealership visits, diagnostic evaluations, repairs, and major component replacements, the problems continue. The vehicle has spent an estimated total of approximately five months in repair facilities or undergoing service evaluations since purchase. The steering issues and rear automatic braking/sensor malfunctions are the most serious concerns because they directly impact the safe operation of the vehicle. The vehicle has demonstrated unpredictable behavior, including grinding, sticking steering response, and sudden stopping. These ongoing defects have caused significant safety concerns and loss of confidence in the reliability and safe operation of the vehicle. I believe these issues warrant further investigation due to the potential risk to drivers, passengers, and others on the road

While driving on a high-speed interstate with two children in the vehicle, and without any prior warning signs or issues, the dashboard began displaying sequential warnings from multiple Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensors. As the vehicle continued cycling through numerous dashboard warnings, the power steering failed, making the vehicle difficult to control. Additional electronic systems also began malfunctioning, including the display screen, cameras, and safety sensors, while the driver attempted to safely maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. After reaching the shoulder, the driver powered the vehicle off in an attempt to reset the electrical systems. However, once powered down, the engine would no longer start. When the tow truck arrived, the technician was required to jump-start the battery in order to shift the vehicle into neutral for towing. The technician also showed the driver a low-voltage reading on the jump-start device, indicating a possible alternator or charging-system failure. Hyundai dealership representatives later stated that diagnostic testing of the alternator and electrical system showed no faults and informed the customers that the battery was simply dead. After the dealership replaced the battery, the customers drove the vehicle approximately 15 miles to their residence. During that drive, the vehicle again began displaying the same sequence of sensor and system failures. The power steering failed a second time, and the same electrical malfunctions experienced during the initial incident were repeated.

Approximately 4 months after purchasing our 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy we started experiencing a serious steering issue. When driving slow while making turns, either right or left whether going forward or reverse the steering wheel intermittently abruptly stops mid turn and locks with a big bang. It forces me to apply the breaks because I cannot complete the turn. After about 10-15 secs the steering wheel releases with a loud pop, and spins the opposite direction in which I’m trying to turn, leaving the wheels one way and the steering the other. At that point I’m able to regain control of the steering wheel and continue my turn and start driving but on many occasions it has caused me to almost be T-boned by other vehicles when this happens at an intersection or or hit from behind. We have taken the Vehicle to 3 different Hyundai service centers in 2 different states in the last 23 months. All claim they’re not able to replicate the issue and to bring it back if it continues which we have. It’s currently in service and has been for 2 1/2 weeks. They informed me that they plan on replacing the steering column but it’s unknown if this will fix the issue. I may still have the same issues which will further put my family at risk of harm or death if it continues and we are hit.

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel vibrated and was shaking erratically. In addition, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the brake pedal was difficult to depress. The contact stated that the brake pedal needed to be depressed extremely hard to stop the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred mostly on bumpy roads, regardless of the speed at which the vehicle was being driven. Additionally, the traction control was independently activated. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was returned to the contact; however, the contact stated that the vehicle was a death trap. The contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe and had to transport her kids back and forth to school in an unsafe vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

I have a 2024 Palisade, and any small bump, pothole, or lane bump causes my steering wheel to shake uncontrollably. If I go over a speed bump or come down an incline, the brakes make a rumbling sound, and if I try to brake, the brakes stutter and just shake. I’ve almost hit a car in front of me a few times because it didn’t want to stop. This is a very expensive SUV to be having these issues, and it’s a major safety concern.

All the dash light are on, warning signs flash, steering get heavy, Speedo not working, Signal indicator not working on dash. Not safe. Dealer drove the car and checked everything, could not get the car to do it again. I picked the car up and within 13 miles the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree, lots of error messages, steering very heavy07/21/24. 14,500 miles on car

As the vehicle drove over railroad tracks the steering wheel began to shake violently and I attempted to push the brake pedal with my full body weight but the brakes would not work and the car lunged forward, striking the vehicle in front of me. The failure of the brake system on my 2024 Hyundai Palisade prevented me from stopping the vehicle and thus I impacted the vehicle in front of me putting not only my life in jeopardy but also the driver of the car in front of me. I sustained a neck injury and headaches and have required ongoing medical care as a result. This vibrating steering wheel and braking issue has happened in the past several times and was reported to Wiesner Hyundai on several occasions; however, the dealership was not able to recreate the problem. The vehicle has been inspected by the service department at Wiesner Hyundai. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problems prior to the failure.

When ever I hit the breaks in a small bump the vehicle vibrates "steering wheel and the brake pedal" not able to control the vehicle almost bump into the car in front of me. I when to my local dealer for it to be inspected and I show the my dashcam videos and one of the mechanics joined me in a test drive for them to diagnose what's happening the same vibration happened when I brake while passing a small bump and the mechanic saw what happened or how it happened and we went back to the dealership they diagnosed the vehicle but they dont have a solution for what have happened i was just afraid that it could happen anytime with my family in the vehicle cause there is no warning when or when it will happen and I cant just simply avoid small bumps in the road cause it's everywhere.
