On XXX, while driving my 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 9, the front windshield wiper system completely stopped operating. I activated the windshield washer because the windshield was dirty. Washer fluid sprayed normally onto the windshield, but the front wipers did not move. I then tried AUTO, LOW, and HIGH settings, and none of them worked. This created a safety hazard because washer fluid remained on the windshield and reduced visibility while I was driving. I immediately pulled over and parked in a safe location. I tested the wipers again while parked, but they still did not operate. After arriving at my workplace, I tested them again and they remained inoperative. I recorded a video while the malfunction was occurring. The video clearly shows that the windshield wipers would not operate. The vehicle and wiper system are available for inspection upon request. I then turned the vehicle completely OFF for approximately five minutes. After restarting the vehicle, the windshield wipers began operating normally again without any repair. The failure has therefore not yet been reproduced by a dealer or confirmed by a service center. On XXX, I drove to Glassman Hyundai in Southfield, Michigan and requested an inspection as a walk-in. The dealer did not accept the vehicle for diagnosis that day and scheduled the earliest available service appointment for XXX. The vehicle has not yet been repaired. I did not observe any warning lights, warning messages, or other symptoms immediately before the windshield wiper failure. I am concerned that this intermittent failure could occur again while driving in rain or snow, resulting in sudden loss of forward visibility and creating a serious crash risk.
