While backing into my driveway if a car passes in front on the street my car will not continue backing up. This also happens in parking lots. While backing out of my driveway onto the street and staying in the lane closest to the driveway, traffic in the far lane will cause the car to stop moving even though the street is more than wide enough to accommodate both cars without crossing the double yellow lines. As I live on a busy street this can cause an accident. In both cases turning off the parkin sensors with the dashboard button has no effect.

Vehicle lost power on a two lane highway with a 55mph speed limit, which increased the risk of an accident. Warning lights appeared after the failure occurred; essentially giving the driver little to no warning. The vehicle kept slowing down to 30-25 mph, but fortunately close enough to home and was able to slowly roll into the garage. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and will take 2 months for the ICCU and ICCU fuse to be replaced due to backordered parts. This occurred after an ICCU update was done in 12/24.

ICCU (Intergrated Charging Control Unit) failed after two mandatory recalls were completed. Vehicle is not drivable as it’s awaiting for a replacement ICCU (backordered). Replacement ICCU will not remedy the issue since it has not been improved upon from the original failure. Vehicle shutdown on a two lane highway with a 65mph speed limit. The section where the vehicle shutdown was without cellular service and on a bend with no shoulder, which increased the risk of an accident. The problem was reproduced in other vehicles using the same part. The component has been inspected by the manufacturer and dealer with a temporary remedy of replacement. Warning lights appeared after the failure occurred; essentially giving the driver no warning or time to react. The vehicle displayed a warning message to pull over and turn off vehicle immediately. Power was reduced to 15mph for about 15-20 minutes.

On Monday May 12, 2025, while driving my Ioniq5 (2024) several warnings appeared concerning the EV electrical system. One warning dealt with 12 volt battery issue and other warning alerted the entire vehicle's electrical system was failing with instruction to stop driving vehicle immediately. I was out of town and my car was towed to local hyundai dealership. The problem appears to be a faulty ICCU component and parts have been ordered. Having my brand new EV turn off in traffic is scary and this experience has been frustrating and nerve wrecking. Knowing Hyundai was aware of this problem makes it even worse.

On [XXX], I was in New Jersey waiting for my mother to finish shopping. In an effort to preserve battery life, I turned off the engine while waiting. Upon her return, I placed my foot on the brake pedal and started the car. As soon as I shifted the gear into "Drive," the vehicle made an unusual sound and began to roll forward. At no point did I remove my foot from the brake pedal, and I immediately applied more pressure. However, the brakes did not respond. Panicked by the fact that a parked car was directly in front of me, I quickly shifted the gear into "Park" to engage the emergency brake. Fortunately, this action brought the vehicle to a stop, and no damage occurred. I turned the vehicle off and restarted it after which the brakes functioned properly. The experience was extremely alarming. This is not the first time I have experienced this issue. On [XXX], a similar incident occurred while I was stopped at a red light. At that time, I assumed I may not have applied sufficient pressure to the brake pedal. The car rolled forward and made contact with the vehicle in front of me, resulting in a minor accident and a cracked front headlight. Given that this has now happened twice, I am concerned about the possibility of a recurring brake system failure and am worried for my safety and the safety of others. - Brake Failure, it is available for inspection upon request - if I didn’t act quickly and pressed the emergency brake, it would have resulted in an accident. Damage to my car and damage to the car In front of me. And could have resulted in injury to myself. -I have not taken the vehicle to the dealership or service center yet as I have not driven it since the incident. However, I have scheduled an appointment for this upcoming weekend. -there were no warning lamps messages or other symptoms prior to the failure. PE23011 · Loss Of Motive Power

Opened Jun 8, 2023 · Closed Apr 17, 2024

Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Electrical SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V Battery; Electrical System:propulsion System:dc/dc Converter

On June 8, 2023, the Office of Defect Investigation (ODI) opened PE23011 to investigate allegations of loss of motor power on model year (MY) 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 vehicles. Some consumers reported loss of motor power immediately after a warning lamp illumination or reduction of motive power while the vehicle was in motion. This investigation found that the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) may be subject to various conditions such as overcurrent, overvoltage induced at the end of charging, and certain thermal loading during operation that can damage its internal components and open the ICCU fuse, resulting in an inability to charge the 12-volt battery. The vehicle could eventually lose all motive power, increasing the risk of a crash. In July 2023, Hyundai issued a service campaign to address certain MY 2022-2023 Ioniq 5 and MY 2023 Ioniq 6 vehicles that may have low 12V auxiliary battery charging occurrences due to an ICCU fault and may set the DTC P1A9096 “DC/DC Converter Input Voltage Sensor Fault”. On March 15, 2024, Hyundai filed Safety Recall 24V-204 for 98,878 MY 2022-2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 vehicles and MY 2023-2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6, Genesis GV60, Genesis GV70 “Electrified” and Genesis G80 “Electrified” vehicles. The recall remedy provides an inspection, and if necessary, a replacement of the ICCU and the associated fuse. The ICCU software reduces the risk of overcurrent and implements voltage peak reduction at the end of EV battery charging. The recall also includes a software update that revises the electric water pump operational threshold to reduce thermal loading during charging and driving. In view of the recall action being taken by Hyundai, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation. The agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. To review the reports cited in the Closing Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
