ICCU failed post software update. Driving home and was suddenly alerted electrical vehicle systems were malfunctioning, and shortly following (1 or 2 minutes), the car flashed a new warning telling me to stop the vehicle. Had I been on a busy highway or a one lane street with low visibility, it would have put me and my wife in danger of being struck by other traffic. Luckily, I was very close to home so I drove home and did not drive the car for a few days. while researching what to do, I had read about the ICCU failure and my problems were similar. I called a tow truck to get it out to a dealer. When attempting to shift the card into drive or reverse, the car would not move. Dealer has determined that my ICCU is in fact bad and is currently in the shop being replaced. Unknown how long this will take.

both the 12v battery and the ICCU failed while driving. The dashboard light gave us 1 minute to pull over before the battery system died and the car stopped fully dead. Needing towing to dealership service.

Sound deadening foam inside the tire delaminates and causes SEVERE wheel imbalance. This is a widespread issue on all the Hyundai Ioniq 5 forums with this tire. Mine cost me $300 and countless hours to diagnose. IT also severely impacted the cars handling and prevented the car from driving over 46mph (in my case), which is extremely dangerous on interstates. My local tire shop balanced the tires with the maximum allowed amount of weights, but then the vibration was still there at 59mph. The Hyundai dealer then diagnosed it and they charged me $180 to do a dynamic balance. According to their results, the tires were "bad" and needed to be replaced. I went to Costco to replace the tires at a cost of

I bought my Ioniq 5 in April 2023, starting in June 2023 I started having issues with the internal navigation system locating my vehicle on a different route than I was actually on. When I connect to Apple CarPlay to be able to use Google Maps or Waze, it also throws my cell phone system off and will be taken into wrong streets. Vehicle navigation also detected me driving in the wrong direction alerting me not to enter the street. I took video and photos to the dealer starting in June 2023 for a few months. They first updated the software which took over 6 hours, and my car spent the night at the dealer. Unfortunately it did not resolve the problem, they then replaced the antennae also not resolved issue. They replaced the camera in front of the rear view mirror, also no resolution. Lastly they replaced the head unit under warranty. My car continues to have the same issues with navigation and recently while on the freeway and the navigation and Apple CarPlay were acting up, when i switched lanes it alerted me of a collision and car began to break while driving 65 miles per hour. This could have caused me to be rear ended if there would have been a vehicle behind me. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle which i depend on the navigation maps for my daily work. Currently i am avoiding driving on freeways to ensure the car does not suddenly brake and cause me to be rear ended. I contacted the dealer and they stated they have not detected the same issue on other Ioniq 5's sold at Puente Hills Hyundai in California. In researching through the internet, i found there are others experiencing the same issue. Dealer asked me to bring my car in once again, but i am not sure what they can do. Hyundai needs to figure out the issue on the Ioniq 5 navigation system and issue a recall to fix the safety glitch with the system.

I was driving 45 miles per hour on a 2 lane highway, when the car suddenly started beeping, lurched, and dropped to 25 miles per hour (low power mode). After pulling over at a gas station, I was able to run the car in this low power mode for a short time, and then the 12V battery completely died. The main battery in the car was at 78%. There was no warning light that this would happen before making that drive. I took the car in to the dealer and they informed me that the ICCU failed. I see that there is an investigation underway for the 2022 Ioniq 5, and that the 2023 Ioniq 5 has the same components. Please take this investigation seriously as if I were going on a faster highway or more cars were around, it could have resulted in a major accident. This car has just over 10,000 miles and was just purchased under a year prior at the time.

PE23011 · Loss Of Motive Power

Opened Jun 8, 2023 · Closed Apr 17, 2024

Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Electrical SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V Battery; Electrical System:propulsion System:dc/dc Converter

On June 8, 2023, the Office of Defect Investigation (ODI) opened PE23011 to investigate allegations of loss of motor power on model year (MY) 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 vehicles. Some consumers reported loss of motor power immediately after a warning lamp illumination or reduction of motive power while the vehicle was in motion. This investigation found that the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) may be subject to various conditions such as overcurrent, overvoltage induced at the end of charging, and certain thermal loading during operation that can damage its internal components and open the ICCU fuse, resulting in an inability to charge the 12-volt battery. The vehicle could eventually lose all motive power, increasing the risk of a crash. In July 2023, Hyundai issued a service campaign to address certain MY 2022-2023 Ioniq 5 and MY 2023 Ioniq 6 vehicles that may have low 12V auxiliary battery charging occurrences due to an ICCU fault and may set the DTC P1A9096 “DC/DC Converter Input Voltage Sensor Fault”. On March 15, 2024, Hyundai filed Safety Recall 24V-204 for 98,878 MY 2022-2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 vehicles and MY 2023-2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6, Genesis GV60, Genesis GV70 “Electrified” and Genesis G80 “Electrified” vehicles. The recall remedy provides an inspection, and if necessary, a replacement of the ICCU and the associated fuse. The ICCU software reduces the risk of overcurrent and implements voltage peak reduction at the end of EV battery charging. The recall also includes a software update that revises the electric water pump operational threshold to reduce thermal loading during charging and driving. In view of the recall action being taken by Hyundai, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation. The agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. To review the reports cited in the Closing Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
