Was driving down the highway and my car caught fire. I was stopped by another driver saying that my car was on fire. I had no breaks to stop, I had to put it straight to park to stop the car. That way myself and my son could jump out of the car.

Around the middle of May 2024 I received a recall notice #23V651000. I made an appointment for approximately 2 weeks on June 5. When I arrived I was told the part was never ordered. Coconut Creek Hyundai said they would order the part and call me in a few days. After not hearing for 2 weeks I went back to Hyundai and was told the part hadn’t come in and to go home and they would call me in a few days. After several more weeks I went back and was told the part still hadn’t arrived. It was about a month and a half and still no part. The service manager told me that Hyundai USA was placing a low priority on my model car and manufacturing that part last after all the other models. It’s now 4 months later and I have never received any call from Coconut Creek Hyundai. When this first happened I contacted both Coconut Creek Hyundai and Hyundai USA. Hyundai USA said they couldn’t interfere with the local dealer even though it’s a Federal Safety Recall! Hyundai Coconut Creek basically blew me off. I think this is deliberate on the part of Hyundai USA to service higher cost vehicles before lower cost. They are playing games with my personal safety and that of my car. They are deliberately defying the recall! I believe whatever compliance procedures you have in place should be enforced to the fullest including fines if necessary. Again they are defying the recall and putting my safety and other Accent owners in jeopardy simply for profits.

15V218000 · Air Bags:frontal
Apr 13, 2015
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2015 Accent vehicles manufactured September 15, 2014, to February 10, 2015. In very cold temperatures, the occupant detection system (ODS) may not be able to determine if a child restraint seat is in the front passenger seat.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the ODS fails to detect that the seat is occupied by a child restraint seat, the front air bag will not be deactivated and, in the event of a crash necessitating front air bag deployment, the air bag deployment could cause increased risk of injury to the occupant in the child restraint seat.
Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will correct ODS software, free of charge. The recall began on June 4, 2015. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Hyundai's number for this recall is 129.
