My 2015 Hyundai Accent started having issues with oil consumption at about 80,000 miles or so. I was having to check and add oil to the vehicle regularly in addition to oil changes. The oil consumption issue got worse as the vehicle got higher in miles, having to check and add oil every 600-1000 miles approximately. I was not aware of the known issue with Hyundai motors and the oil consumption so I was not tracking milage or dates of adding oil unfortunately. At about 100,135 miles, the vehicle suddenly broke down on my way to work. There was no warning other than the oil consumption problem. The car RPMs got very high and the car started decelerating until it wouldn't go forward anymore and was stalled on the side of the road. I had the vehicle towed to a Hyundai dealership and at this time it waiting for the diagnosis, however, they are sure that the head gasket has to be removed (for $500) to get that diagnosis. When the car died, there were no warning lights on at all, however, previously, there had been lights for low oil occasionally, but not always, when the oil was low. Many times when I checked and the oil was low, there was no light that indicated that it was low.

Okay, I'm going to try my best at explaining what I am experiencing. This is my SECOND Hyundai Accent. The first car I had was a 2004 Accent. The second car I have now is a 2015. Both cars have the same exact problem. And I am NOT fixing it. This is definitely a MANUFACTURING ERROR. It's so dangerous too, because my engine could just BLOW UP. Anywhoooo, both cars just BURN OIL LIKE GAS. I repeat, BURN OIL LIKE GAS. I need to check the oil every (at the most) 2 weeks because of how badly oil is just burning up. Also, there is a "Check Engine" code being thrown for something small in the EVAP System. Same cars, 11 years apart. Same problems!? I don't think that is right WHATSOEVER. I have researched ongoing recalls & expired recalls. To my disappointment, I find NOTHING. This is a MAJOR ISSUE. There is absolutely zero irony in 2 cars, being 11 years apart, newer one being a 6 speed manual, having the SAME ISSUES EXACTLY. I was so happy to get a newer one, thinking, "oh there can't be possibly anything wrong with this model". WRONG. Absolutely, positively NO CAR should have to dump almost 5 quarts of oil in your car every 1000 miles or less. I constantly need to buy 1 or 2 quarts of oil BIWEEKLY for this 2015 Hyundai Accent. I can't just get rid of it, cars are expensive! This is absolutely the manufacturers problem. So I am going above their heads to get this taken care of. Monday, I want to try and call Hyundai, either the one near me, or some "hotline". This is unacceptable. My car will show that "low oil pressure" light and my heart just drops. "I just put oil in it!". I say to myself. Do not get me wrong. I love my car. I want my car taken care of. As, when I bought it, Blaise Alexander *apparently* didn't know about it. And they flat out lied about the check engine light! I've had numerous people look at it. They hardly have an answer. Its expensive and labor intensive. Please help me solve this problem. I am NOT the only one. -Morgan Buerk

AT FIRST IN THE BEGINNING MY CAR DOES IT ONCE IN A BLUE MOON; HOWEVER NOW EVERYDAY FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS MY CAR WOULD POWER DOWN WHILE BEING AT A RED LIGHT, STOP SIGN, OR IN MOTION. WHEN IT POWERS DOWN THE ENGINE AND BATTERY LIGHTS COMES ON. I WOULD HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART MY CAR. IT NORMALLY DOES IT TWICE EVERYDAY. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR MYSELF AND MY BABY. I'M SCARED THAT A CAR WOULD COME UP BEHIND AND HIT ME WHILE MY BABY IS IN THE CAR. I FEAR OUR LIVES. WHEN I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE FOR THEM TO CHECK AND SEE WHY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON THE CODE WAS ALWAYS CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I WENT TO GO GET THAT FIX AND MY CAR IS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO, WHEN MY CAR IS IN MOTION THE RPM DOESN'T MOVE IT STAYS AT 0. ALSO, THE SENSOR FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG ISN'T WORKING. WHEN SOMEBODY IS SITTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS OFF, BUT WHEN SOMEBODY ISN'T SITTING THERE THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. I HAVEN'T BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS.

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I'M REPORTING THIS DEFECT. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW CAR ON 11/28/2015 LESS THAN A WEEK LATER WHILE DRIVING THE NORMAL SPEED LIMIT THE CAR BEGAN TO POWER DOWN AND THE ENGINE LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK THEN RESTART THE CAR AGAIN THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TO BE SERVICED. I WAS TOLD A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED, THE THE TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKED UP AND THIS IS WHAT CAUSED THE CAR TO POWER DOWN AND ENGINE LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT TO COME ON. ANYWAY A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS PUT IN THE CAR AND I WAS GIVEN THE CAR BACK. THE CAR WAS IN THE DEALER SERVICE SHOP FOR A WEEK. NOW LESS THAN A WEEK LATER THE CAR IS DOING IT AGAIN, POWERING DOWN WHILE DRIVING, THEN ENGINE LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON. THIS IS A SAFETY RISK!!! I HAVE A CHILD I FEAR FOR OUR LIFE. I REPORTED THIS TO CONSUMER AFFAIRS, BBB, THE POTAMKIN HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR, HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE,NHSTA AND ANYONE WHO WOULD LISTEN!. ALL I GET IS THE RUN AROUND, WELL, THIS IS GOING TO BETHE SECOND TIME THE CAR IS GOING TO BE SERVICED FOR THIS SAFETY RISK.

23V651000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:antilock/traction Control/electronic Limited Slip:control Unit/module

Sep 22, 2023

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2015 Elantra, Genesis Coupe, Sonata Hybrid, 2012-2015 Accent, Azera, Veloster, 2013-2015 Elantra Coupe, Santa Fe, 2014-2015 Equus, 2010-2012 Veracruz, 2010-2013 Tucson, 2015 Tucson Fuel Cell, and 2013 Santa Fe Sport vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module may leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the ABS fuse, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 10, 2024 through October 11, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 251.

15V218000 · Air Bags:frontal

Apr 13, 2015

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2015 Accent vehicles manufactured September 15, 2014, to February 10, 2015. In very cold temperatures, the occupant detection system (ODS) may not be able to determine if a child restraint seat is in the front passenger seat.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the ODS fails to detect that the seat is occupied by a child restraint seat, the front air bag will not be deactivated and, in the event of a crash necessitating front air bag deployment, the air bag deployment could cause increased risk of injury to the occupant in the child restraint seat.

Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will correct ODS software, free of charge. The recall began on June 4, 2015. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Hyundai's number for this recall is 129.
