RECENTLY MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT MY RACK AND PINON STEERING ON THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING. I WAS SURPRISED AS THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND NOT ABUSED. IT ALSO HAS LESS THAN 90K ON IT. A SEARCH ONLINE SHOWS THAT NUMEROUS OTHER HONDA 2008 CR-V OWNERS HAVE NOTED A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE ON THIS MODEL WHICH I BELIEVE WARRANTS A RECALL FOR HONDA TO REPAIR AT THEIR EXPENSE. FAILURE OF THIS PART WOULD LEAD TO SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING AND I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. COMPLAINTS BY OTHER 2008 HONDA CRV OWNERS REGARDING THIS ISSUE CAN BE FOUND AT HTTP://WWW.ARFC.ORG/COMPLAINTS/2008/HONDA/CR-V/STEERING/PROBLEM.ASPX IS THIS ISSUE BEING ESCALATED TO A RECALL? STEERING FAILURE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE OF THE HIGHEST PRIORITY.
