Electrical component malfunctioning Knock Sensor: code error: p0325 I noticed my check engine light had came on but wasn't on for long and had turned off on the dash. A few weeks later the check engine light reappeared and did not go back off. Upon this happening I noticed a major difference in my vehicle performance. The fuel consumption had significantly increased, I recognized these shake like vibrations when sitting in park or at a complete stop. A "knocking noise" I would hear coming from the engine, as well as rough idling almost as if there was a "stalling/hesitant" idling that sounded very off. Adding a very noticeable reduced power from the engine that was not there when the check engine light was not on. This has been a confirmed malfunction and should be replaced due to the importance the knock sensor provides to the engine of this vehicle. This was confirmed by an employee at a parts store, with there computer code reader. Upon request for inspection; I have open availability. Confirmed: March 4, 2025 The additional code provided also stated the catalytic converter is recommended to be replaced as well. Engine related systems that power the vehicle such as (catalyst pipes) Powertrain (previously recalled prior time frame) due to this being a numerously reported issue with many other owners of this same vehicle I own. There is a reoccurring issue that absolutely goes hand in hand with the performance and job of the also stated ongoing problems I'm facing. The knock sensor is a vital part to the powertrain system that helps optimize engine performance and protects it from harmful knocking by monitoring combustion irregularities. Potentially if these are current issues, and have caused any kind of damage, the damage alone effects as follows: -wiring issues, internal malfunction, physical damage , corrosion from exposure to engine fluids, internal short circuit, mechanical damage, faulty wiring,excessive vibrations, wear and tear from use.

The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle was difficult to start. The contacted stated that the battery was replaced several times; however, the failure recurred approximately 3-4 months later. The vehicle was jumpstarted and was towed to a Toyota dealer, where the battery, the alternator and alternator belt were replaced; however, the failure recurred the following morning. Additionally, the contact stated that an unknown warning light was illuminated. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V418000 (Electrical System); which the contact related to the failure; however, the contact had not received a recall notification from the manufacturer. The Honda dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 70,722.

There appears to be a model-wide problem with 2017 Honda Accord audio system that manifests in screeching static noise through audio speakers (whether the radio is turned on or not) at decibels in excess of 100 (sounds like a lawnmower being operated inside a closed 4 door sedan). This noise comes with no warning (or waring lights) and shocks the senses that can cause erratic vehicle operation. Once the noise starts, it will last varying lengths of time that include in excess of 12 minutes. The only means to make it stop is by turning off the car, which is not easy or safe if highway driving. The screeching is so loud, it is impossible to hear emergency sirens or honking horns, making this a serious safety issue. This is also very distracting -- imagine a passenger screaming in your ear as loud as they can non-stop -- simply not conducive to safe driving! Honda of America acts like they have never heard of this issue (I can see that many, many 2017 Accord owners have reported this very issue over the last several years). Dealer diagnostics reveal nothing. They only recommend replacing the entire audio head unit ($4K) and owner expense. For a car that is only 7 years old, it is not working as intended. Very frequenly after idling for more that 5 minutes with the heat on before beginning to drive, the vehicle will create extremely loud and disorienting scratching static noise. This condition is recreated under a number of other conditions and is heavily reported and documented on various forms and youtube pages. Can be found by searching "2016 accord head unit static" This issue has been reported to honda and has not been recognized as a defect. They quote a repair cost to solve the issue with the defective head unit. The issues can only be stopped by pressing the power button on the head unit it self. Sometimes, frequent start and stops of the ignition can remedy the issue.

Consequence: An electrical short increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the sensor, free of charge. Dealers will perform an interim remedy of applying adhesive to the case to prevent water intrusion. THE ABOVE FAILURE REPORT COUNTS ARE FOR MODEL YEAR (MY) 1999 - 2001 HONDA ACCORD MODELS THAT WERE NOT WITHIN THE SCOPE OF A RELATED HONDA RECALL ACTION (NHTSA 03V423); THESE VEHICLES WERE INVESTIGATED BY ODI UNDER DEFECT PETITION (DP) 04-006.COMPLAINT INFORMATION FOR OTHER MODELS AND MODEL YEARS WAS NOT OBTAINED BY ODI.THE NOTED POPULATION INDICATES THE NUMBER OF VEHICLES (INCLUDING THE MY 2002 ACCORD PLUS THE PRELUDE AND TL MODELS) THAT ARE WITHIN THE SCOPE OF HONDA?S NEW RECALL (NHTSA 05V-025, HONDA P68, P69); 402,525 OF THESE WERE INVESTIGATED IN DP04-006.SEEPART 573 DOCUMENTS RELATED TO 05V-025 FOR FURTHER DETAIL ON OTHER MODELS AND MYS.ODI NOTES THAT, ACCORDING TO HONDA?S ANALYSIS, INTERLOCK SYSTEM WARRANTY RATES FOR THE TL AND PRELUDE MODELS INVOLVED IN 05V-025 ARE SIMILAR TO THOSE OF THE ACCORD MODELS.INFORMATION PROVIDED BY HONDA DURING DP04-006 INDICATES THAT CERTAIN VEHICLES CONTAINING INTERLOCK SYSTEMS MADE BY ITS JAPANESE LOCK MANUFACTURING FACILITY MAY CONTAIN DEFECTIVE INTERNAL COMPONENTS.IN COMBINATION WITH CERTAIN WEAR AND USAGE FACTORS, THIS MAY LEAD TO A CONDITION THAT PREVENTS THE SYSTEM FROM BLOCKING REMOVAL OF THE IGNITION KEY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK.IF THE DRIVER LEAVES THE TRANSMISSION IN A NON-PARK POSITION AND FAILS TO SET THE HAND BRAKE WHEN PARKING, THE VEHICLE MAY ROLL AWAY AND CRASH.INTERLOCK SYSTEMS MANUFACTURED BY HONDA?S U.S. LOCK MANUFACTURER DO NOT APPEAR TO CONTAIN THIS DEFECT AND ARE THEREFORE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ACTION. IN A LETTER DATED JANUARY 27, 2005, HONDA ADVISED THAT IT WILL CONDUCT A SAFETY RECALL TO EITHER UPGRADE (FOR OPERATIVE SYSTEMS) OR REPAIR (FOR INOPERATIVE SYSTEMS) SUBJECT INTERLOCK SYSTEMS WITH NEW DESIGN LEVEL COMPONENTS THAT DO NOT CONTAIN THE DEFECT.
