Failure to start problems began about 3 years ago. Initially we had to push the start button several times to get the car started. It got progressively worse. We paid $810. to replace the starter with a remanufactured starter part. The dealership said they used the remanufactured part because it had a 3 year warranty while a new starter would have only a 1 year warranty. It worked for 3 or 4 months and then started to act up again. The dealership replaced the starter again with another remanufactured starter part in November of "24. Now it is March of "25 and my wife is marking the calendar again on the days the starter malfunctions which has been several days in the past month. We have been left stranded and I fear this could result in a serious safety problem if it happended in heavy traffic or some other vulnerable situation. There are many Honda starter complaints on the internet! Why hasn't there been a recall?

The speakers and sound system emit a VERY loud static sound that is often accompanied by computerized sounds. It usually happens after I've been driving the vehicle for about 10-15 minutes. It seems to be coming from the head unit/radio unit, but the sound will continue even if I completely turn off the radio/sound system. It's so loud that it's often hard to concentrate and is going to damage my hearing if it persists. It started happening shortly after my car turned over to 100K miles. There are hundreds and maybe thousands of other Honda Accord owners who have posted online about this VERY same issue (usually 2017) and the Honda dealers recommend replacing the entire unit to the tune of $4-5,000. This is a manufacturer defect!! The ONLY thing that stops the noise is to pull over, turn the car off, and wait 10-15 minutes, but sometimes the sound starts right up again. I have not yet taken my car to the dealer or a repair shop due to the hundreds/thousands of other posts online stating the exact same problem and the recommendation by Honda being to replace a part that was manufactured defectively. The sound is VERY loud and I cannot drive my car very far unless I just want to put up with it and try to ignore it. Even if I put headphones in my ears (which I don't when driving as that's unsafe), I can STILL hear the static. Honda needs to issue a recall for this problem and fix it!

While in motion, the car jerks and has issues with acceleration requiring the safety hazard lights to be come on and I’m unable to keep up with marked speed limit while traveling due to the sluggishness of the vehicle. The majority of these issues have been confirmed by a Honda dealership as well as another car shop. There are several warning and safety hazard lights that come on and go off the dashboard. SIX OF THE ODI COMPLAINTS ARE DUPLICATIVE OF HONDA COMPLAINTS, AS WELL AS FOUR OF THE CRASHES.THE ONE INJURY OCCURRED WHEN A ROLLAWAY VEHICLE STRUCK THE EXITING OPERATOR WHO HAD INADVERTENTLY PARKED THE VEHICLE IN AN UNSECURED STATE (NOT IN PARK, BRAKE NOT ENGAGED).HONDA IDENTIFIED THE WARRANTY CLAIMS FROM COMPLAINT DESCRIPTIONS THAT CONTENDED THE INTERLOCK SYSTEM FAILED TO OPERATE PROPERLY.HONDA PRESENTED THE RESULTS OF THEIR INVESTIGATION INTO INTERLOCK SYSTEM FAILURES AT AN OCTOBER 16, 2003 MEETING WITH ODI IN WHICH HONDA IDENTIFIED A SUPPLIER AND AN ENGINEERING SPECIFICATION CHANGE FOR THE IGNITION CYLINDER BODY (CB), A SUBCOMPONENT OF THE IGNITION LOCK ASSEMBLY.RESULTS FROM HONDA?S ANALYSIS DEMONSTRATED A STRONG CORRELATION BETWEEN THE PRODUCTION DATE RANGE OF VEHICLES THAT EXPERIENCED HIGHER INTERLOCK WARRANTY CLAIM RATES AND THE IMPLEMENTATION DATES OF THE CHANGES.AN ENGINEERING SPECIFICATION FOR A SURFACE TREATMENT PROCESS FOR THE CB WAS ELIMINATED AT THE BEGINNING OF MY 1998.THE SUPPLIER OF THE CB WAS CHANGED IN FEBRUARY 1999.VEHICLES BUILT WITHIN THIS TIME PERIOD CONTAIN A CB WITH POOR SURFACE HARDNESS THAT CAN WEAR PREMATURELY.AS THE WEAR PROGRESSES, THE INTERLOCK SYSTEM BECOMES INCAPABLE OF PREVENTING KEY REMOVAL WHEN THE SHIFTER IS IN A NON-PARK POSITION.INTERLOCK FAILURE INCREASES THE RISK OF A VEHICLE ROLLAWAY AND SUBSEQUENT CRASH OR INJURY WHEN VEHICLES ARE PARKED UNSECURED.HONDA ACCORD VEHICLES SUBJECT TO THIS CHANGE INCLUDE MY 1998 AND MY 1999 THROUGH FEBRUARY 1999 PRODUCTION.VEHICLES PRODUCED AFTER THIS DATE ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS CONDITION AND THUS ARE NOT CONSIDERED AT RISK FOR FAILURE.ODI NOTES THAT 12 OF THE 13 VOQ REPORTS FALL WITHIN THIS PRODUCTION RANGE (THE 13TH DOES NOT HAVE A VIN AND CANNOT BE VERIFIED).THE ABOVE POPULATION REPRESENTS THE NUMBER OF THE ACCORD VEHICLES TO BE RECALLED.HONDA ALSO REPORTED THAT CERTAIN ODYSSEY AND ACURA CL AND TL MODELS WERE AFFECTED AND WOULD ALSO BE RECALLED.A TOTAL OF 570,120 VEHICLES WILL BE RECALLED.UNDER RECALL 03V-423, HONDA WILL INSPECT VEHICLES AND REPLACE COMPONENTS (INCLUDING THE CB) ON VEHICLES WITH EXCESSIVE WEAR.VEHICLES NOT SHOWING WEAR WILL HAVE A REDESIGNED PART INSTALLED WHICH PREVENTS WEAR.
