RECALL # 95V246000; RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED IN MAY OF 97. NO PROBLEM WITH BOLTS AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER, OWNER RECEIVED A 2ND RECALL NOTICE IN OCTOBER OF 97. WHEN TAKEN TO DEALER, DISCOVERED THAT BOLTS WERE BROKEN AT THIS TIME. THE BOLTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY DEALER. *AK
ON (2) DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, ONE IN FEBRUARY AND ONE IN MAY OF 97, WHILE USING THE CRUISE CONTROL AND AIR CONDTIONER, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT COME ON. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. *AK
TRANSMISSION JUMPED OUT OF PARK WHILE PARKING BRAKE WAS ON.
ON ANY ROAD CONDITIONS WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM REAR BRAKES. THE WHEEL CYLINDERS AND BRAKE DRUMS WERE REPLACED ONCE IN 4/96, LASTING 5,000 MILES AND 10//96 LASTING 10,000 MILES. THE BRAKES ARE MAKING GRINDING NOISES AGAIN. *AK
WHILE DRIVING TAILGATE LATCH FAILED, RESULTING IN BIKE COMING DISCONNECT TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE.

VEHICLES ALTERED BY PAS, INC. HAVE COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS FUEL TANKS THAT CAN DEVELOP STRESS CORROSION, WHICH CRACK THE E-GLASS WRAPPING. THIS STRESS CORROSION CRACKING CAN LEAD TO TANK RUPTURES.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF THE TANK RUPTURES, PERSONAL INJURY TO INDIVIDUALS IN OR NEAR THE VEHICLE MAY OCCUR.
Remedy: GM IS OFFERING TO EXCHANGE THESE VEHICLES WITH A COMPARABLY EQUIPPED 1994 GASOLINE 1/2 OR 3/4 TON GM PICKUP. IF THE OWNER CHOOSES NOT TO EXCHANGE THE NATURAL GAS VEHICLE, GM WILL REPURCHASE THE VEHICLE.

THE REAR BENCH SEAT DOES NOT MEET THE LOAD REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS 207, "SEATING SYSTEMS," BECAUSE THE MANUAL LATCH MECHANISM ON THE FOLDING FULL BENCH REAR SEAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE BACK FRAME LOWER CROSS TUBE WITH DOMED HEAD STEEL RIVETS INSTEAD OF THE BOLTS SPECIFIED.

Consequence: Not supplied
Remedy: THE RIVETS MUST BE REPLACED WITH THE CORRECT BOLTS.
