The contact owns a 2023 Forest River Cedar Creek Trailer. The contact stated that there were electrical failures with the heating and other electrical components in the trailer. The contact stated that a technician inspected the trailer and found exposed wires in the glued-shut control board. The wires were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the furnace board and control board needed to be replaced twice. The trailer was repaired but the failure persisted. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V395000 (Equipment) and believed that the recall repair to reroute the wires was insufficient to fix the trailer because the repair was previously performed. The contact was informed that the trailer should not be used because of the possibility of a fire due to condensation in the control box. The contact stated that a case was opened with Forest River. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2004-2024 Cedar Creek and 2006-2024 Puma fifth wheels trailers. The overcurrent protection from the trailer battery may have been incorrectly routed, allowing the wires to be pulled out of the junction box.
