While traveling at speed there was a severe malfunction of the vehicle's stereo system. While driving the stereo was initially silent but later began to produce extremely loud noise/static. The volume of the noise was so extreme I had to take my hands off the steering wheel to cover my ears. The stereo did not respond to any power or volume input to stop the sound and I was forced to quickly pull over to the side of the road to turn off and exit the vehicle. The sound only stopped after exiting the vehicle and locking with the key fob. There were no warning signals prior to this failure. I have experienced this problem several times in the past while the vehicle was parked, when first starting the vehicle. This was the first instance of experiencing the problem while driving, within the first 1 minute after starting the vehicle. The stereo was initially on and set to a reasonable volume level, but was malfunctioning and completely silent. After driving for ~45 seconds the stereo began producing this extremely loud noise. I have found several reports of similar stereo issues with the Ford Maverick and also F150 trucks that are equipped with a similar B&O sound system. This malfunction could potentially lead to an extremely dangerous situation, inability to safely operate the vehicle, and loss of situational awareness. I have dash cam footage of the incident, which I can provide upon request.

Total 12v battery drain/failure which is a known problem with the Ford Maverick Hybrid, could not even put hazards on to avoid getting hit on the side of the road. Ford tests battery and says battery is good, but the problem is the Maverick Hybrid is not adequately charging the battery when it is driven.

On Tuesday, [XXX], my wife and I were driving her, new to her, 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid XLT, that we purchased from Stuckey Ford in Bellefonte, PA on [XXX]. She was behind the wheel. We were heading west on [XXX] and had just passed into Pennsylvania by crossing the Delaware River. The check engine light and battery lights went on suddenly & we immediately lost power. The power steering was no longer working, but the brakes were. As we were in the passing lane going 65 mph & there was an 18-wheeler in the right lane, we could not cross two lanes to reach the Matamoras exit ramp. She steered into the median between lanes to our left. The Maverick would not start. We were about 6" off the left hand white line of the west bound passing lane. I called 911 who sent a PA State Trooper to park behind us with his flashers on. We were towed off the [XXX] exit ramp to a garage. We tried to start the truck five times, it would not start. The sixth time it did start but when the tow truck operator tried it, the truck only started intermittently. We called the nearest Ford Dealer, Healy in Goshen, NY. We were towed to Healy the same afternoon. They said their diagnostics could find no problems. Their invoice is attached. Since the event on [XXX], the Maverick has not turned on when the key is turned & brake pedal depressed multiple times. When this happens the same two lights (check engine & battery) stay on. I own a 2023 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid. I am having issues with the 12v battery. The battery drains unexpectedly making the truck go into Battery Saver Mode. I already took it to the Ford de leadership where it received a new 12v battery. Couple of months go by and now the replacement battery is having the same issue.

2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid XLT lost all engine power at highway speed in the left lane of [XXX] . Red Warning Triangle with notice to pull over and Check Engine light with codes P0811, P0E71 and P1920. Truck then went completely dead, no electrical indication on the instrument panel and would not start. I towed it to the dealer and they said they reset and reloaded software on the PCM and BCM, but no explanation of what caused the issue to occur. Very unsafe for everyone if these hybrid vehicles can just go dead like this with no warning and no prior issues. On [XXX], I was involved in a backing accident that was significantly caused by the subject of this recall (Manufacturer Recall Number24S59, NHTSA Recall Number24V684). When I put my vehicle in reverse, the rear view camera came on. However, what I didn't realize was that the image displayed on it froze shortly after the camera turned on making it appear that it was clear behind me and safe to back. But another vehicle had pulled off of the street and stopped right behind me immediately after I put it in reverse and was looking at the frozen image that it was clear and safe to back. The car behind me was shorter than my vehicle and had pulled in behind me in the drive-thru line at somewhat of an angle, so only the front of their vehicle was directly behind me and the rest of out of view of my rear view mirror. I was trying to back, because the drive-thru was two lanes and the right lane I was in was backed up due to a delay and an employee was waving me to come to the left lane since it was open and available. Because the other customer had just pulled in behind my vehicle from the street while my rear view camera was displaying a frozen image of when it was clear behind my vehicle, when I backed slowly, my rear bumper cracked the other car's front bumper. Because of Ford's safety issue, I have incurred an expensive liability claim for damages to the other party's vehicle. Claim details: Claim #: [XXX] ($3,563.81 in repairs + $581.06 rental car = $4144.87 total) StateFarmClaims@statefarm.com Ph: [XXX] Fax: [XXX] A fix for the recall has since been issued and I need to get my truck in for recall repairs. However, I am filing this complaint to NHTSA to document the damage caused by this issue and will also be seeking recourse from Ford. Nothing changed after they performed the recall work. I do believe that the technician performed the work he was told to, but it hasn't accomplished anything. The rear view camera still takes a few seconds to engage once I put the car in reverse, and while I am in reverse, actively backing up the car, the camera feed freezes repeatedly on-screen.

Since new in Sept 2023 this vehicle has suffered from consistent charging problems with the 12 volt battery, it sends "deep sleep" warnings to the Ford App and disables certain safety features. Charging the battery only restores functionality temporarily, driving the car ends up depleting the 12 volt battery over time. It affects all Ford Maverick Hybrids including mine.
