TIRES ARE ORIGINAL TO TRUCK. ON DATE OF INCIDENT, I STEPPED FROM THE TRUCK, AND WHILE WAITING FOR PERSON GLANCED AT LEFT FRONT TIRE AND NOTICE SOMETHING WRONG WITH TREAD. I CHECK WITH FINGERS TO PROBE AND FOUND 4 INCH SEPARATION 2 INCHES IN FROM OUTSIDE EDGE OF TREAD. SEPARATION WAS IN FIRST TREAD CHANNEL AT EDGE OF RAISED AND RECESSED POINT. THE STEEL BELT WAS VISIBLE. I CAUGHT THE DEFECT PRIOR TO FURTHER DAMAGE. I NOTIFIED DEALER AND INSTRUCTED TO DRIVE TO NAMED TIRE FACILITY. DEALER REFUSES TO MAKE GOOD AS SAID THAT STEELTEX A/T TIRES NOT ON FORD/FIRESTONE RECALL LIST. I ADVISED DEALER AND IN FACT REPLACED ALL FIVE TIRES ON VEHICLE. I AM IN PROCESS OF FILING A WRITTEN COMPLAINT WITH DEALER, FORD, AND FIRESTONE.*AK (DOT NUMBER: VNW81XL419 TIRESIZE: LT26575R16). *SLC
