BACKUP CAMERA AND BRAKE LIGHTS INOPERABLE/INTERMITTENT DUE TO WATER IN ORIGINAL FORD WIRING HARNESS PIGTAILS, LOCATED ON UNDERSIDE EXTERIOR OF VEHICLE. WARRANTY SHOWS ALL WIRING HARNESSES AND CONNECTORS AS COVERED. SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY PURCHASED FORD PREMIUM ESP WARRANTY UP TO 100,000 MILES ON ODOMETER, BUT WORK TO FIX THE ISSUES ARE BEING REFUSED BY FORD SERVICE DEPT BECAUSE OF "WATER INTRUSION", DESPITE BEING EXPOSED TO ROAD RAIN WATER. CALLED FORD WARRANTY CLAIMS DEPARTMENT AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CONTACT MY EMAIL THE NEXT DAY (IT'S BEEN TWO DAYS) ON POSSIBLE WARRANTY RESOLUTION. FORD WANTS TO CHARGE ME FOR THE REPAIR MEANWHILE, WHICH I REFUSED. NOW, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WORK ONLY PART OF THE TIME (COME ON AND STAY ON FOR PERIODS OF TIME), THE BACKUP CAMERA IS PREVENTING ME FROM SEEING ANYTHING BEHIND ME. I'M AFRAID OF BEING REAR-ENDED OR BACKING INTO ANYTHING OR ANYONE. ALSO, FORD MADE ME PAY THE $100 WARRANTY DEDUCTIBLE DESPITE WORK NOT BEING RESOLVED. AND, ORIGINAL WIRING HARNESS WHICH WAS ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE IS NOW DANGLING UNDER THE TRUCK AS THE TECH BROKE ALL OF THE PIECES THAT ATTACH THE WIRING IN PLACE TO THE VEHICLE.

FEB 2019 MY TRUCK WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS IT GAVE THE DASH WARNING : CHIMING SOUND, NO OIL PRESSURE, HIGH TEMP, SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC, AIR BAG, BATTERY, AND AFTER STOPPING NOTHING WAS OVERHEATING, AND OIL WAS AT PROPER LEVEL IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. IT LOCKED THE STARTING SYSTEM OUT. TOWED TO SHOP, WAITED 6 HRS THEN SHOP SAID IT WAS FROM SUSPECTED CORRODED BCM CONNECTOR. THE SHOP TURNED THAT IN TO MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY DECLINED THE CLAIM DUE TO CORROSION. FORD HAS A BULLETIN OUT ON IT HAPPENING BUT REFUSED TO PAY FOR IT. $1000 REPAIR BILL+ $130.00 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS. THEY ARE NOT EVEN SURE IT WAS CORROSION, BUT SUSPECTS THE BCM CORRODED CONNECTOR. THEY RESET THE CODES, TEST DROVE IT AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME. I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD PRODUCT AGAIN.

12/07/16 I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. I DROVE IT HOME APPROXIMATELY TWO MILES TO PICK MY WIFE UP AND TAKE HER FOR A SPIN. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE THE AIR BAG LIGHT, THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT AS WELL AS THE WARNING MESSAGE FOR SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC AND TRAILER BRAKE MODULE FAULT AND THE 911 ASSIST NON OPERATIONAL. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE. THEY HAD THE TRUCK FOR ABOUT FIVE DAYS. WHEN I PICKED UP MY TRUCK BEFORE I EVEN GOT OFF THE LOT ALL THE LIGHTS AND MESSAGES CAME ON AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIPS OTHER LOCATION AND THEY HAD IT ROUGHLY THREE WEEKS. THEY REPLACED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND THE MASTER WIRING HARNESS AT THE INSTRUCTIONS OF FORD ENGINEERING. I DROVE THE TRUCK BEFORE HAVING ALL THE SAME THINGS HAPPEN AGAIN WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE STABILITY CONTROL/ SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC MESSAGE. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK AGAIN , THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE AGAIN. A FEW WEEKS WENT BUY AND NOW THE SAME PROBLEMS AGAIN. THIS IS THE FOURTH VISIT AND TOMORROW MARKS THE 30TH BUSINESS DAY THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP. ADD TEN MORE DAYS FOR THE WEEKENDS IT SAT THERE AND THE ONE DAY FOR WHEN THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPAIR MY LEATHER INTERIOR THAT THEY MESSED UP. THAT'S 41 DAYS AND I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD IT FOUR MONTHS YET. I'VE REQUESTED THAT THE MANUFACTURER BUY IT BACK NOW TWICE AND WAS DENIED BOTH TIMES. I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT MEET THEIR CRITERIA. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WHEN THESE LIGHTS COME ON. IT POWERS DOWN THOSE SYSTEMS MAKING THEM NON OPERATIONAL. THERE IS NO PATTERN TO THIS HAPPENING. IT CAN BE AT START UP ,SITING STILL OR MOVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE LIGHT CAN STAY ON THE ENTIRE TRIP OR JUST FLASH MOMENTARILY.

1PE24014 · Sogefi Secondary Diesel Fuel Filter Leak
Opened May 9, 2024 · No close date supplied
Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Fuel System, Diesel; Fuel System, Other:fuel Filter
The Office of Defect Investigations (ODI) has received 27 complaints alleging diesel fuel leaks due to a fracture in the secondary fuel filter housing in model year (MY) 2015-2021 Ford Motor Company (Ford) F-250, 350, 450, and 550 Super Duty vehicles equipped with 6.7L diesel engines. Of these complaints, 12 describe an engine compartment fire. The proximity of the secondary fuel filter to high heat sources creates a potential for autoignition thermal events and fires. ODI has contacted the vehicle manufacturer, Ford, and the filter manufacturer, Allevard Sogefi USA (Sogefi), and learned that the low-pressure fuel system is capable of a maximum operating pressure of 8.5 Bar, while the secondary fuel filter is only tested to seven (7) Bar during the manufacturing process. Additionally, changes starting in 2022 by both Ford and Sogefi align with a lack of similar complaints on MY 2022 and newer vehicles. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) to evaluate the severity of the potential problem and to fully assess the potential safety-related problems. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
