2018 Ford Edge

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, there was a vibration heard and felt coming from the rear-end of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vibration was intermittent; however, while driving over a bump or rough patch on the road surface, the rear-end would begin sway as if the vehicle was hydroplaning. The contact stated that the feeling of loss of control was made worse while the Lane Keep Assist feature was activated. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

Only have about 13600 miles on my 2018 Edge and the battery drains down about .5 v overnight. Could not start in in my garage after 4 days of sitting, charged it up and took it to the Ford dealer where they did a load test on the battery, it tested at 89%. I did a load test with a multimeter with the same results. Dealer told me to keep a trickle charger on it because I didn't drive it enough which was a poor answer. There is a NHTSA #18V54800 out there and a Ford recall #18S25 that does not include my SUV but it could have the same problem. Looking on line there are others with the same issues with the battery going dead just by sitting and in most cases changing out batteries was not the cure and it seemed Ford offered no resolve. If this is a problem caused by a loose connection or a short it could indeed become a bigger safety issue. My vehicle was built at the same plant as stated on the Ford recall # and it should be considered a safety issue for all Edges of the model year of 2018 made a that plant. I'm not sure this is my problem but I need to start somewhere noting that it's happened to others besides me. Thank you for any help in this matter

The car has difficulty staying started after filling up with fuel. It does settle out but it is getting worse.. Today, it shut off while moving after just being filled up. Apparently, the fuel purge valve is going bad. This should be a recall of some sort since it seems to be a common problem with this vehicle. An expensive problem.

The defroster was inoperable. The check engine warning light was flashing on and off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that coolant was entering the engine. TSB 22-2229 Had dealer change spark plugs, while attempting broke spark plug off in head. Reported they would have to replace the head. More investigation led them to TSB 22-2229 and a boroscope of the head found coolant intrusion. Now the dealer states it will cost me 6500$ to repair the long block due to the coolant intrusion. This is a known problem with 2014-2018 Ford Edge and Ford Escapes as well as other vehicles. Copied from a law group website who is filing a class action lawsuite "Experts recommend that customers notify the Ford motor company as soon as possible once they identify an issue. These problems are not always simple and could cause dangerous consequences. If the leak inside it is left unfixed, it could cause problems with the engine and cause a rear-drive axle seizure." A quick search of this has hundreds of complaints stating this issue. This is not just a rear drive axle seizure issue. This could cause a fire in the engine due to coolant in the combustion. The check engine code did display with a P0300 MISFIRE Cylinder 3 code on it.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission failed to shift into the intended gear, and then the vehicle lost motive power. The dealer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred on 4 separate occasions. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where the thermostat, the hoses, and radiator hoses were replaced; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing rough starts. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that coolant was leaking into the cylinders. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

About a week and a half ago, we started getting an error message that the Adaptive steering fault requires service. We contacted our local Ford dealer who says it could be an electrical issue. But can't see us until Nov 1st. Additionally ,when driving straight, the steering wheels ( Ford logo) is turned to the left. It is worrisome but the dealer says it's safe to drive. I don't think so. In doing our research,we've found that this seems to be an issue. I shouldn't have to pay for theses repairs whether through my pocket or through my extended warranty. Which will be out of pocket either way, because I pay for this through my car note and would have a deductible.
