BOUGHT VEHICLE APPROX 1.5 YEARS AGO FROM A CHRYSLER DEALER WITH 28000 MILES. PRESENTLY ABOUT 46000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING AT CITY SPEED, CAME TO A RED LIGHT AND STARTED SMELLING THIS ODOR OF BURNT DIFFERENTIAL FLUID OR ROTTEN EGG SMELL. IMMEDIATELY CALLED DEALER AND MADE APPT, FOR FOLLOWING DAY. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS NOT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER (WHICH WE THOUGHT IT WAS AND UNDER WARRANTY), BUT IT WAS THE CPU UNIT. WE WERE ALSO TOLD IT WOULD COST US $3000.00 . THE WARRANTY ON THE UNIT IS 5 YEARS OR 60000 MILES. WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN ON A UNIT THAT NORMALLY LASTS A LIFETIME. ESPECIALLY AT 46000 MILES. WE DID SOME RESEARCH BECAUSE DEALER SAID THEY CANNOT WARRANTY OR EVEN CHECK WITH MANUFACTURE ON WARRANTY. WE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT WITH THE 2014 FORD EDGE ANF FORD KNOWS THE ISSYE AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO RECALL OR REPAIR ANY OF THESE ISSUES. WE DONT HAVE $3000 DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE ISSUE BUT AM DISAPPOINTED THAT WE HAVE TO MAKE A KNOWN REPAIR ON A VEHICLE BOUTGHT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO THAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. THERE HAVE BEEN NEWS REPORTS ON TV ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE ON ITS SAFETY . HTTPS://BC.CTVNEWS.CA/MOBILE/FORD-OWNER-FEARS-FOR-HER-SAFETY-AFTER-SERIOUS-CAR-MALFUNCTION-1.3139692 . PLEASE ADVISE AND CHECK THIS NEWS REPORT. RIGHT NOW THIS VEHICLE WE SPENT $22000 THOUSAND IS PARKED AND CANNOT BE DRIVEN BECAUSE IT'S TOO DANGEROUS
1.PRESS OR LOOSING OFF BRAKES PEDAL GIVES A KNOCKING NOISE. 2. REAR VIEW CAMERA FLICKERS & SHUT OFF WITH A WARNING MESSAGE. 3. REARVIEW SIDE MIRRORS DO NOT WORK. 4. LIGHTER PLUG LOCATED BY MIDDLE COMPACT TOWARDS BACK ROW DOES NOT WORK.
VEHICLE REPEATEDLY HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING. ALSO WILL SOMETIMES START WITH A ROUGH IDLE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. PROBLEM IS RESOLVED IF VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED.
REAR BACKUP CAMERA CAN SHOW DISTORTED IMAGES OR SUDDENLY GO DARK WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING AND PUT INTO REVERSE WHEN BACKING UP. CAMERA IMAGE IS SPORADIC. IT WILL SOMETIMES FLICKER AND GO OUT OR NOT ENGAGE AT ALL SHOWING EITHER A BLACK OR BLUE SCREEN AND SAYING "REAR CAMERA NOT AVAILABLE". HAPPENS W/O WARNING. WARMER WEATHER EFFECT…

WARMER WEATHER EFFECTS IT MORE OFTEN THAN IN COLD OR WHEN FOOT IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE. I PURCHASED CAR BRAND NEW FROM FORD DEALERSHIP AND THIS STARTED HAPPENING AFTER WARRANTY WAS UP. TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE COST ESTIMATE OVER $800 TO FIX. TOOK TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS ELECTRICAL AND NEEDED A CODE THAT THEY COULDN'T ACCESS. THERE'S A RECALL FOR 2020 FORD EDGE VEHICLES ON THIS MATTER AS THIS SHOULD BE GRANDFATHERED IN IN THE RECALL. IT DOES THE SAME EXACT THING! I HAVE VIDEO THAT SHOWS MUCH MORE HOW THIS HAPPENS.

POWER TRANSFER UNIT LEAKING AFTER 80,000 MILES, HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED TO REPLACE PTU AND NEW PTU IS ALSO LEAKING. OTHER DRIVING ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED SINCE INCLUDING LOSING POWER STEER CAPABILITY ON WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS ON UNEVEN ROADS, UNABLE TO ACCURATELY RECREATE THE ISSUE AS IT IS VERY INTERMITTENT. ALL CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, WRENCH, AND ADVANCETRAC DASHBOARD WARNINGS FLASH WHEN ELECTRICAL AND PROPULSION SYSTEMS MALFUNCTION.
1ST OCCURRENCE WAS WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING AND WENT INTO LIMP MODE (A WRENCH WAS DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD). 1ST OCCURRENCE WAS WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING AND WENT INTO LIMP MODE (A WRENCH WAS DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD). I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE AT ALL AND HAD TO PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE. TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF. THIS NOW OCCURS EVERY DAY AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE, IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS MAKING A TURN AT A BUSY INTERSECTION AND ALMOST ENDED UP IN ANOTHER DRIVER HITTING ME AS I HAD NO POWER TO ACCELERATE OUT OF THE WAY. IN RESEARCHING THE ISSUE I BELIEVE IT IS DUE TO A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY CONTROL BUT AM UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE IT SINCE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THUS ERROR CODE GOES AWAY WITH EVERY RESTART...AT THE VERY LEAST IT SHOULD TELL ME WHAT THE LAST ERROR CODE WAS.
WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AND BRAKING, THE PEDAL IS VERY STRONG AND THE CAR HARDLY STOPS

Nov 10, 2020
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Explorer, 2014-2015 Taurus and 2014 Edge vehicles equipped with 2.0L or 2.3L engines and front wheel drive. The support bracket for the front drive axle halfshaft may fail.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: The failed bracket could result in a loss of park function which can cause unintended vehicle movement, and loss of motive power while driving which increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the link shaft bracket, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. Owners received an interim notification detailing safety risk December 8, 2020. A second letter will be mailed when parts become available in January 2021. The recall began February 2, 2021. On April 30, 2015, Ford expanded the recall to cover an additional 45,505 vehicles, including certain model year 2014-2015 Ford Transit Connect vehicles manufactured November 11, 2013, to August 29, 2014, 2014-2015 Ford Fiesta vehicles manufactured April 10, 2014, to June 17, 2014 and 2014 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured April 30, 2014, to May 21, 2014. Improper nickel plating of components within the fuel pump may result in the fuel pump failing.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the fuel pump fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began on February 27, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14S30.
14V393000 · Power Train:axle Assembly:axle Shaft
Jul 2, 2014
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured September 2, 2010, to November 30, 2013; 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured August 25, 2011, to November 30, 2013; and 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured September 12, 2011, to November 30, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'Park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S10.

1PE15020 · Wheel Separation
Opened May 20, 2015 · Closed Jan 4, 2016
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Wheels:rim
On November 29, 2014, ODI received a complaint reporting the complete separation of an original equipment 22-inch alloy wheel rim mounted on the right front position of a model year 2014 Ford Edge vehicle (VOQ 10661278).The driver indicated that the right-front corner of the vehicle suddenly dropped while driving, causing the vehicle to go off the road to the right and into a field. The right-front wheel rim was found to have broken into two pieces. The owner said that there was no prior warning or wheel related problems with the vehicle. The vehicle had been driven approximately 8,500 miles at the time of the incident. On May 29, 2015 ODI sent an information request to Ford asking for detailed information related to the specific 22 inch alloy wheel used on the Edge as well as any peer vehicles which used the same type of wheel. On July 17, 2015 Ford provided ODI with the requested information. Ford's search showed that the single incident reported to ODI is the only instance of a wheel failure on the subject or peer vehicles. The failed wheel was sent to the National Transportation Service Board (NTSB) materials analysis laboratory for examination. The NTSB determined that the wheel failed because of a severe impact that caused a crack that rapidly propagated around the circumference of the wheel, The rim fracture surface had a predominantly rough appearance consistent with an overstress fracture (rapid fracture)There were no abnormalities or unique features associated with the fracture initiation site.Metallurgical analysis of the rim found that the material was within specification and no anomalies were identified that could have contributed to the failure.See the full NTSB report for more details.Based on the absence of additional failures and the results of the wheel material testing and failure analysis, this investigation is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist. The Agency will continue to monitor complaints and other information relating to the alleged defect in the subject vehicles and take further action in the future if warranted. The following VOQ is associated with this investigation: 10661278
