Window Master Switch and door wire harness on drivers door does not operate. Can not open any windows on the vehicle. Rear windows will not open from rear door switches also. In case of accident windows can not be opened for exit purposes. Can not open windows if stopped by a police officer, whereas, they may feel threatened by occupant in vehicle. Is this a safety feature to be able to open windows. Ford dealer performed a vehicle check on May 20, 2021 and indicated the door harness may need replacement and the window master switch. Ford indicated the vehicle is 7 years old and the part is likely not made by Ford anymore. Ford has no way to correct the issue. THE VEHICLE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAYS A "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" WARNING...DESPITE THE DOOR BEING FULLY CLOSED. THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON, AND AN "ENGINE ON" ALERT APPEARS, AS WELL. TO CLEAR IT, THE DRIVER'S DOOR MUST BE CLOSED SEVERAL TIMES. IT IS OCCURRING MORE AND MORE OFTEN. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY DURING THIS PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THIS IS A RAMPANT PROBLEM FROM WHAT MY RESEARCH INDICATES...AND SHOULD SEEMINGLY DICTATE A FACTORY RECALL.
PUT THE CAR IN PARK MODE, TURNED OFF KEY, REMOVED KEY, WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE AND IT STARTED INDICATING THE CAR WAS NOT IN PARK. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE AND BOTH TIMES THE VEHICLE STARTED MOVING AS IT WAS IN NEUTRAL EVEN THOUGH THE KEY WAS REMOVED AND IT SHOWED IN PARK
1.PRESS OR LOOSING OFF BRAKES PEDAL GIVES A KNOCKING NOISE. 2. REAR VIEW CAMERA FLICKERS & SHUT OFF WITH A WARNING MESSAGE. 3. REARVIEW SIDE MIRRORS DO NOT WORK. 4. LIGHTER PLUG LOCATED BY MIDDLE COMPACT TOWARDS BACK ROW DOES NOT WORK.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING WON'T GO OUT. DOORS WON'T LOCK. BATTERY DRAINS. TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK WARNING. THESE WARNINGS COME ON WHILE PARKED AND WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING.
I HAVE A FAULTY DOOR LATCH ISSUE. WHEN I TURN MY CAR ON AND START DRIVING, THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT WON'T GO OFF AND I CAN OPEN MY DOORS WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF, THE LIGHTS WON'T GO OFF INSIDE THE CAR AND THE CAR CONTINUES TO DING LIKE THE DOOR IS OPEN. THIS WILL CAUSE MY BATTERY TO GO DEAD.
WHEN I CLOSE MY DRIVER DOOR, IT TELLS ME THAT MY DOOR IS AJAR. I KNOW MY DOOR IS CLOSED SO I PUT MY CAR IN DRIVE AND IT TELLS ME THAT MY TRANSMISSION IS NOT IN PARK. I KNOW THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE 2013 FORD EDGE DOOR LATCH ON THE DRIVER DOOR. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT FORD HAS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE TO CLOSE MY DOOR …

Jul 2, 2014
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured September 2, 2010, to November 30, 2013; 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured August 25, 2011, to November 30, 2013; and 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured September 12, 2011, to November 30, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'Park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S10.

Opened May 20, 2015 · Closed Jan 4, 2016
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Wheels:rim
On November 29, 2014, ODI received a complaint reporting the complete separation of an original equipment 22-inch alloy wheel rim mounted on the right front position of a model year 2014 Ford Edge vehicle (VOQ 10661278).The driver indicated that the right-front corner of the vehicle suddenly dropped while driving, causing the vehicle to go off the road to the right and into a field. The right-front wheel rim was found to have broken into two pieces. The owner said that there was no prior warning or wheel related problems with the vehicle. The vehicle had been driven approximately 8,500 miles at the time of the incident. On May 29, 2015 ODI sent an information request to Ford asking for detailed information related to the specific 22 inch alloy wheel used on the Edge as well as any peer vehicles which used the same type of wheel. On July 17, 2015 Ford provided ODI with the requested information. Ford's search showed that the single incident reported to ODI is the only instance of a wheel failure on the subject or peer vehicles. The failed wheel was sent to the National Transportation Service Board (NTSB) materials analysis laboratory for examination. The NTSB determined that the wheel failed because of a severe impact that caused a crack that rapidly propagated around the circumference of the wheel, The rim fracture surface had a predominantly rough appearance consistent with an overstress fracture (rapid fracture)There were no abnormalities or unique features associated with the fracture initiation site.Metallurgical analysis of the rim found that the material was within specification and no anomalies were identified that could have contributed to the failure.See the full NTSB report for more details.Based on the absence of additional failures and the results of the wheel material testing and failure analysis, this investigation is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist. The Agency will continue to monitor complaints and other information relating to the alleged defect in the subject vehicles and take further action in the future if warranted. The following VOQ is associated with this investigation: 10661278
