2010 Ford Edge

Component: Brake Booster/Master cylinder Available for inspection: yes Safety: Hissing sounds from brakes; have difficultly stopping; either the brake pedals become extremely hard and difficult to press down or soft that there is not enough pressure to stop. Either way it is extremely dangerous. On several occasions I have almost ran into traffic or hit another car because I haven't been able to stop. Warning: No warning light. My warning was running into oncoming traffic due to the inability to stop become of the brakes. Timining: The past few months.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford edge. The contacts stated that after shifting into reverse(R), the gear shifter remained stuck in reverse(R). There was no warning light illuminated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle several times until the gear shifter responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that an unknown part needed to be replaced; however, the part was discontinued. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 233,693.

Brakes are hard to push and they squeal, This is after several repairs. I have had front and rear pads and rotors replaced, replaced the power brake booster. Also I bought this car new and every time I am applying the brakes and turning the steering wheel to the left something underneath hits on the break and you can hear it and feel it.

Upon inspection, it was discovered that the coolant reservoir was empty, the engine oil dip stick read full, and the oil was discolored. The vehicle was taken to the local service center where the mechanic discovered water in the engine oil. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the water pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 170,000.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V158000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. Additionally, the passenger's side air bag light failed to illuminate while a passenger was seated in the passenger's side front seat. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

When I attempt to brake, the brake is very stiff and hard to compress. It slows at a much slower rate than normal. Even when forcefully slamming on brakes it does not always engage. This has almost caused several accidents as I cannot brake normally. This is a safety issue for both me and other drivers on the road. It has not been inspected yet. I have done research and found many other internet complaints with the same issues, so I believe it it is the brake power booster.

Complaint Filed Tuesday 18:14 hrs 12/06/2022. On 12/02/2022 I had a diagnosis at Marcotte Ford Holyoke, MA done my vehicle because it failed Massachusetts emissions CEL. Diagnose came back with the same description as the damaged fuel system and suspension which RECALLS, which should have been fixed before I registered the vehicle on 11/22/2022. I fear for my safety of fuel leak and suspension crash. I would hate to think a reputable Ford dealer would jeopardize my safety for a few extra dollars for holiday spending. I have found a different repairman for the faulty brake power booster & Mass Air Flow Sensor the A & Z Autos dealer /A & Z Auto Repair placed in my vehicle. Ms. Sharon-Shawn A. Bell

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 65-70 MPH on the interstate, the vehicle inadvertently stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart and was pushed to the side of the roadway and remained on the side of the roadway. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 242,000.

I was driving home in my 2010 Ford Edge that has150,000 miles on it at the speed of 55 mph when it stopped accelerating and then just shut down. It did not overheat, there were no alarms, alerts or lights that went off on the car. After coasting to the side of the road I got out and looked under the hood of my car I noticed that the antifreeze was leaking. My husband was able to add anti freeze to the vehicle and we drove home and parked it until we could find a mechanic that could figure out what happened. I called mechanics in the area and explained what happened. The local mechanics we spoke to stated that it sounded like the water pump went and that they were not comfortable doing the repair due to the amount of labor required. I found a mechanic willing to work on my truck and had my Ford Edge towed to his shop. After looking it over I was told the water pump leaked into the engine which the dealership said was catastrophic and that I needed a whole new engine and water pump. The technician said it may have been leaking into the engine for several days without warning. A water pump should be a simple repair, however the way that it happened caused engine failure and requires an entire engine replacement. My truck no longer functions or operates in any capacity. I believe this engine failure was the direct result of the location of the water pump which was "internally" in the engine. This is a poor vehicle design and a safety concern for Ford. Total cost for this repair is $8,300. At this time the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacture, police or insurance representatives.
