MY VEHICLE IS A 2004 CHRYSLER CONCORD LXI WITH AN AUTOMATIC DAY/NIGHT MIRROR. THE CONFIGURATION OF THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE HIGH MOUNT BRAKE LAMP CAUSES THE MIRRORS REAR FACING LIGHT SENSOR TO BE SHADOWED WHEN A CAR IS FOLLOWING AT NORMAL DISTANCES IN BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. THIS CAUSES THE MIRROR TO RANDOMLY DIM AND BRIGHTEN CAUSING SIGNIFICANT DRIVING DISTRACTION FROM BLINDING LIGHTS.*AK THERE IS NO FAILURE AS THIS HAS BEEN A CHRONIC CONDITION. THE MANUFACTURE REFUSES TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM AS THE MIRROR ITSELF IS WORKING NORMALLY. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT AFFECTS ALL CHRYSLER CONCORD MODELS WITH THE AUTOMATIC DIMMING REAR VIEW MIRROR.

ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, AN INTERNAL HOOD LATCH COMPONENT MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH A CRACK, WHICH COULD PROPAGATE AND BREAK, ALLOWING THE PRIMARY/SECONDARY LATCH SPRING TO DISENGAGE.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF BOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARY HOOD LATCH FUNCTION, ALLOWING THE HOOD TO OPEN WITHOUT WARNING. THIS COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE LATCH ASSEMBLY. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2003. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-992-1997.
