2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer

The exhaust system and muffler fell off the bottom of my vehicle. The bolts holding the exhaust together failed and broke which led to this. This is a common failure with the newer trailblazer that GM is failing to acknowledge. There have been multiple reports of this. I had my vehicle inspected by Webb Chevy in oak Lawn IL and all the mechanic could say is “they don’t make them like they used to” which means they know this problem exists. This 100% put me at risk as I could’ve crashed with my daughter in the car when the muffler disconnected causing it to scrape and lose power. This was extremely dangerous and should’ve been a recall. There was no warning lights or anything. My vehicle just ran into issues mid traffic and this was extremely scary. The exhaust and muffler completely detached from the catalytic converter/exhaust manifold while driving down the road. If we were driving at a higher rate of speed, the exhaust pipe could've caught on any imperfection on the roadway and shot the rear end of the vehicle up and then potentially caused an accident/death. This has happened to many I have discovered upon further research and is a common problem with the vehicle according to the dealership. Vehicle has been towed to the dealership to be inspected and/or repaired. Zero warning signals, lamps, or messages.

On this vehicle the manufacturer is using plastic exhaust brackets. This bracket broke while driving on interstate. This caused the entire exhaust system to drop. When this happens the pipes underneath the car can break and cause serious damage to underside of vehicle which can then cause sparking and explosion or vehicle crash. Looking at pics below you will see the defective plastic part is GM Part# 42708943.
