SEAAT BELT NOT CONNECTED TO THE BODY INSTEAD IT IS CONNECTED TO THE DOOR AND IN A RECENT ACCIDENT THE DOOR WAS TORN OFF AND THE PASSENGER WAS THROWN OUT OF THE CAR AND KILLED THE YOUTH . AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THAT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE SOME PROGRAM TO HAVE MY CAR TAKEN IN AND HAVE THE SEATBELTS REPLACED IN A SAFE POSITION. I DO KNOW THAT IN 1994 OR 1995 YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO PUT THE SEATBELTS IN A SAFER POSITION. THANK YOU . I WILL BE LOOKING FOR A REPLY. *AK

THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT SEAT MANUAL RECLINING MECHANISMS DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS 207, "SEATING SYSTEMS." THE SEAT BACK MECHANISMS WILL NOT LATCH UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THE SEATS MAY RECLINE WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, RESULTINGIN A HAZARD TO SEAT OCCUPANTS AND POSSIBLE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL.

Remedy: REPLACE THE MANUAL SEAT RECLINER MECHANISM WITH A MECHANISM THAT COMPLIES WITH FMVSS 207.
