MY CAR HAD LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON IT WHEN IT FIRST SAID SERVICE SIDE DETECTION, NOW I NO LONGER HAVE BLIND SPOT DETECTION, FRONT CAMERA OR ANY OF THE OTHER SAFETY FEATURES I PAID EXTRA TO HAVE. ITS BECAUSE THE COMPUTER FOR IT IS PLACED NON WEATHER PROTECTED IN THE BUMPER OF THE CAR AND AFTER IT GETS EXPOSED TO OUR WEATHER IT RUINS IT. IT'S A PRICEY FIX THAT WILL JUST KEEP GETTING RUINED. ITS A FAULTY ERROR ON CHEVYS END THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED. WHEN MINE FIRST WENT OUT I READ ABOUT MANY OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, I JUST KEEP WAITING HOPING THAT CHEVY WILL STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING. THIS IS MY 3RD IMPALA I HAVE OWNED, I ALWAYS SWORE THEY WOULD BE MY ONLY CAR BUT NOW THIS WILL BE MY LAST IMPALA I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER ONE. WAY TOO MANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING, POWER STEERING WAS LOST. IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I COULD HAVE EASILY CRASHED. THE DASH DISPLAY SHOWED A MESSAGE, CONFIRMING THE PROBLEM. MY OBD SCAN TOOL SHOWED THE TWO FOLLOWING DTC CODES LISTED UNDER POWER STEERING: C00800-12 AND C056D-3B.
SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE DEALER HAS MENTIONED THAT THIS IS DUE TO WATER GETTING INTO THE ELECTRICAL UNIT/MODULE.
SENSORS ON THE BACK BUMPER WENT BAD DUE TO MOISTURE GETTING IN, SCREWED UP ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WHICH IS THE BRAINS OF THE VEHICLE. SENSORS ON THE BACK BUMPER WENT BAD DUE TO MOISTURE GETTING IN, SCREWED UP ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WHICH IS THE BRAINS OF THE VEHICLE. CHEVY NEEDS TO RECALL THIS CAR, TONS OF OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS EXACT PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE REPAIR SHOP AND THE SENSORS ARE NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING NUMBER OF CUSTOMERS THAT ARE HAVING TO PURCHASE THEM. THE REPAIR SHOP CANNOT EVEN BE GIVEN AN EXPECTANT DATE THAT THE SENSORS AND WIRING HEIRNESS WILL BE AVAILABLE. RECALL THESES CARS CHEVY, THEY KNOW THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT, THIS IS A $1500 FIX THAT THE CUSTOMER IS LEFT TO PAY. WHEN THEY KNOW TONS OF CUSTOMERS WITH THIS VEHICLE ARE HAVING THE VERY EXACT SOME ISSUES. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN I EXPERIENCED THE ISSUES.
ON FEBURARY 2ND MY SIDE DETECTION SERVICE ALERT TURNED ON IN MY INFOTAINMENT CENTER AFTER I STARTED THE CAR.. NOW BOTH SIDES DRIVER AND PASSENGER DETECTORS DONT WORK AT ALL.. I FEEL IT'S THE RESULT OF MOISTURE GETTING INTO THE MODULES.
SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM HAS FAILED AT JUST OVER 38000 MILES.
RETURNING FROM A RECENT DRIVE BACK FROM NEBRASKA INTO COLORADO THE SUNROOF (THE PORTION THAT VENTS AND SLIDES) EXPLODED. NO OTHER INDICATORS WERE PRESENT. NO BAD WEATHER NO DEBRIS FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE WERE HEARD OR SEEN. THERE WERE SOME HIGH WINDS IN THE AREA BUT THAT WAS ABOUT IT.
EXCESSIVE WATER IN SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT POSSIBLY FROM LEAKING REAR WINDSHIELD AND/OR REAR TAIL LIGHTS. WATER ACCUMULATES IN THIS AREA AFTER ANY TYPE OF RAIN WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY.
SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM FAULTED OUT. NOW OTHER ISSUES WITH FRONT CAMERA AND OTHER SYSTEMS FAILING.
Official recalls
315V465000 · Air Bags
Jul 24, 2015
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured April 15, 2013, to June 19, 2015, equipped with front vented-heated passenger seats. Accordingly, the Automatic Occupant Sensing (AOS) system may fail to suppress the front passenger air bag if a child seat is in the front passenger seat. These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the front passenger air bag deploys with a child seat in the front passenger seat, it increases the risk of injury to the child.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will correct the calibration-learning error by preconditioning the empty seat, and also resetting the ECU to a seat zero-value, free of charge. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 15400.

Sep 9, 2014
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Cadillac XTS vehicles manufactured February 14, 2012, to August 22, 2014, and 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured November 5, 2012, to September 2, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the electronic parking brake piston actuation arm may not fully retract causing the brake pads to stay partially engaged.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Brake pads that remain partially engaged with the rotors may cause excessive brake heat that may result in a fire.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the electronic parking brake software, free of charge. The recall began on October 28, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 14471.

Aug 8, 2014
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured May 7, 2014, to July 28, 2014. In the event of an accident, the center storage console may not stay latched. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 201, "Occupant Protection In Interior Impact."

Remedy: Parts to remedy this condition are not currently available. GM will send owners an interim notification in early October 2014, and will send a second letter when parts are available. At that time dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the console storage compartment door inertia latch, free of charge. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.
