2016 CanAm Spyder F3 Limited had a bad front sprocket. Began making noise & vibrating when on the road. Took it to the dealer & it was the front sprocket that is now under recall. I had the Spyder repaired at the cost of $465.46. I notified CanAm of my expenses to replace the sprocket & provided the bill from the dealer. They are refusing to now refund my expenses for the repair. They want to give me a credit towards CanAm products which I do not want any CanAm products. I want a refund for what I spent to fix the Spyder which is now under recall & the new sprocket will have to be replaced because it is also a defective sprocket.

ON SATURDAY MAY 6, 2017 I TEST DROVE A 2016 CAN AM SPYDER F3. IT WAS A CLEAR, BUT CHILLY AND WINDY DAY IN NORTH EAST GEORGIA. I HAD PREARRANGED A TEST RIDE WITH MOUNTAIN MOTORSPORTS IN BUFORD, GA. THE MACHINE WAS PREVIOUSLY OWNED, BUT HAD LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE ISSUE: WHILE TRAVELING IN THE RIGHT-MOST LANE IN I 85 NORTH, ON CRUISE CONTROL AND TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 69 MPH, THE TRAFFIC WELL AHEAD OF ME STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. I IMMEDIATELY DISENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND BEGAN TO COAST THE MACHINE. I THEN NOTICED THE TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME WAS STOPPED. I REACHED WITH MY RIGHT FOOT TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. I COULD NOT 'FIND' THE BRAKE PEDAL. AT THIS POINT THE TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME WAS STOPPED AND I WAS FORCED TO TAKE EVASIVE MANEUVERS. I BEGAN TO DOWNSHIFT FRANTICALLY AND ENTERED THE EMERGENCY SHOULDER ON THE RIGHT OF I 85. I SUCCESSFULLY PASSED SEVERAL VEHICLES ON THE RIGHT WHILE IN THE EMERGENCY SHOULDER LANE. //THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY BRING THE MACHINE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 1ST GEAR AND LESS THAN 10 MPH WITHOUT STRIKING ANY VEHICLES OR OTHER OBJECTS. //AFTER STOPPING IN THE EMERGENCY SHOULDER AND GATHERING MY COMPOSURE, I LOOKED DOWN AT THE BRAKE PEDAL. I NOTICED THAT IT HAD FLIPPED BACK (UPSIDE DOWN) AND WAS INOPERABLE. //AFTER SUCCESSFULLY GETTING THE VEHICLE TO REST AGAINST A CURB IN A CONVENIENCE STORE PARKING LOT, I INVESTIGATED THE BRAKE ISSUE MORE CLOSELY. SEE ATTACHED PICS! //AS YOU SHOULD BE AWARE, THIS SINGLE POINT OF FAILURE RENDERS THE BRAKES ON THE MACHINE COMPLETELY INOPERABLE AND LEAVES THE OPERATOR AT EXTREME RISK! //HAD I BEEN HEADING INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION, OR TRAVERSING A SERIOUS CURVE OR ANY NUMBER OF OTHER REAL, ON-ROAD SCENARIOS, I CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED? I AM ONLY HAPPY TO BE ALIVE AND NOT INJURED!
