I am filing an official safety recall non-compliance and documentation fraud complaint against the franchise dealership, BMW of [XXX], regarding their handling of active safety campaigns B110724 (Electric Water Pump) and B120921 (DME Control Unit).Following a severe engine overheating failure related to the water pump recall, both BMW Roadside and the dealership denied my request for a safety tow, forcing me to pay out-of-pocket for a private flatbed. Upon arrival, the dealership held my vehicle for over a week, explicitly withholding the mandatory safety campaign remedies to leverage an aggressive $4,517.18 retail repair quote for secondary turbo coolant lines. My service advisor explicitly left a voicemail stating: "That is why we were waiting to see if you were going to have the work performed before finishing up that 2nd recall."Furthermore, the dealership committed administrative fraud regarding federal disclosure rules. On my final paperwork under Repair Order #XXX, the dealership checked Box #4 on the 'Vehicle Recall Status Disclosure' page, falsely certifying under penalty that the vehicle was 'Not Subject to an Open Safety Recall'—directly contradicting the active campaigns documented on the preceding page. They attempted to coerce my signature on this false document to strip my consumer rights and cover up a blatant safety campaign violation. Due to this hostile environment and fraud, I refused to sign the false disclosure and privately towed my vehicle away to an independent facility. the vehicle was driven for approximately 30 minutes, operating with zero dashboard warnings or performance indicators. The vehicle was then parked on my property and turned off completely. Approximately two hours and thirty minutes later, the vehicle spontaneously ignited while stationary and unoccupied. The local fire department responded and successfully extinguished the blaze. Both physical observations and my home security camera footage confirm that the point of origin was the front right passenger side of the engine compartment. This exact location houses the factory electric water pump and its electrical plug connector, directly matching the failure mechanism detailed in NHTSA Campaign 24V608000, wherein fluid intrusion causes a severe, persistent electrical short circuit capable of igniting a fire hours after the vehicle is parked. The car is completely totaled because of this.

On the morning of November 2, 2025, around 10:30, I had drove up to the church, parked my car. What I thought was an overheated engine. I decided to go inside the church and deal with what I thought was an overheated engine. About 12-25 minutes later, while inside the church, I got new that a Black BMW was on fire. Someone had already called the fire department and police. The engine is totally destroyed, and beyond repair. It is more likely than not the faulty water pump is the causation of the fire. I had no previous maintenance issues with the car. I had not received any notification of a recall, nor was I aware prior to November 2, 2025.

This recall has been open for over a year, yet every BMW dealer I have contacted has refused to perform the repair, citing a lack of available parts. I have contacted multiple authorized BMW service centers during this time, and all have confirmed that they cannot complete the recall service because BMW has not supplied the necessary components. This situation has left my vehicle with a known safety defect for an unreasonably long period, creating ongoing safety concerns for me and my passengers. I believe this violates the spirit of federal recall requirements, which are intended to ensure timely and effective remedies for known safety defects.

I started my bmw up one day after working 16 hours and white thick smoke came from the back tailpipe. Tok it to bmw and they said my car is leaking oil on to the turbo and I need to replace the pump, shocks, valves and others because of this leak. And the car started to issue a transmission fault code on the screen.

There are no visible oil or fluid leaks in the engine or the driveway where I park the car. It’s possible that the problem is due to the active recall described below. BMW has failed to find a solution in a timely manner to the following NHTSA recall: ENGINE COOLANT PUMP: The electrical connector of the engine coolant pump could become damaged. Small drops of liquid from the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system could drip down onto the electrical connector of the pump.

An improperly sealed electrical connector on the water pump may be exposed to water and short circuit.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An electrical short increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the water pump and plug connector as necessary, and install a protective shield, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 28, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants.
