That drop me almost hit the vehicle behind me and inposing a serious risk because I'm on the highway. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the dealer mentioend it might be a fuel pump problem. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, it start almodt everytime suddenly from nowhere. Usually it will be ok after a few restart, but this t.ime it's persistent
Fuel pump failed while driving causing car to go into neutral with no power. Had to have it towed after risking my safety on a busy road. Had to pay for a new fuel pump and repairs at dealer. This happened in 2023 a few months back.

Hello, I was driving in the highway at highway speed and my engine shutdown with any sort of warning. I almost caused a huge accident. After I took it to the Alfa Romeo dealer, I had to replace the fuel pump according to the dealer, which is a common problem. I think Alfa Romeo should do a recall on the fuel pump. I also,scratched my car due to this incident avoiding a bigger accident. This car needs to be recalled for fuel pump repairs for all the car with the old bad fuel pump design. Thank you
When driving vehicle it randomly goes into Limp mode and gives an “electronic throttle module error”. This in turns decreases the power of the vehicle significantly and causes you to move over lanes as to not cause traffic. This issue is common for a lot of Alfa Romeo Guilia owners.

Engine recently began making a loud ticking sound, that everyone who heard it asked, "What's wrong with your car?" I purchased the vehicle new 5.5 years ago and it presently has 38,475 miles on it. The dealer determined the noise was due to a loose oil pump bolt under the timing cover. It was a 10.5 hour repair to remove a bolt and reapply lock-tite to it and then reinstall. Had the repair not been performed the bolt could have vibrated all the way out and caused internal damage to the engine, which I believe is a safety issue. The repair cost was $1,813.68. Per the dealer this was the first Giulia model that they had to service for this issue, but they had serviced several Stelvio models that were newer but shared the same engine. In today's automotive market such repairs should not be necessary on a vehicle with low mileage. The brand offers a 4 year / 50,000 mile warranty, but not a separate powertrain warranty. In hindsight, it appears the brand does not have a great deal of confidence in the durability of the powertrains it builds.

On August 18, 2022, I was driving the vehicle at a speed of approximately 45 mph when the vehicle motor suddenly and without any prior warning completely shut down. Several warning lights appeared immediately but none prior to the shutdown. I was driving in moderately heavy traffic and had to coast to a spot off the shoulder of the road. This was a dangerous situation and if I had been in heavier higher speed traffic, this would have been a very risky safety situation since I had no power whatsoever to control the vehicle movement. The vehicle would not restart and had to be towed to a repair shop. The problem was with the Fuel Pump Control Module which had to be replaced along with replacing the fuel pump. The manufacturer had previously issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) concerning this but had not issued a recall. I was unaware of the TSB. The manufacturer was obviously aware of issues with the Fuel Pump Control Module but did not issue a recall for vehicles. The TSB was for cars produced prior to August of 2017 and my car was produced in May of 2017.

Car was being driven on a highway going around a turn and message for “ATV Service” appeared. Shortly after power to the steering wheel and lost jerked the car and came back. All electric lighting flickered and several other messages for service engine and transmission appeared.

My concern is if the vehicle were to start in the garage while we were asleep and carbon monoxide would leak into the house.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia and 2018-2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of fuel flow and loss of drive power.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the fuel delivery module, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed October 7, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated July 2026. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 93C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 16, 2025. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia and 2021-2024 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles. The tire pressure and size information on the tire placard and manufacturer labels are incorrect. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Incorrect tire information can result in under-inflated tires or installing the incorrect-size tires, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: FCA will mail corrected tire placards and manufacturer overlay labels. Owners may bring the labels into a dealer for free installation. Some interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 27, 2024. Owner notification letters were mailed August 5, 2024 through November 1, 2024. During certain driving maneuvers, the brake system may exert an excessive clamp force that may fracture the rotor, decreasing the brake performance.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An unexpected decrease in brake performance increases the risk of a crash.

On January 8, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation (PE24003) to assess allegations of loss of motive power resulting from low-pressure fuel pump failures in certain MY 2017–2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles. The subject vehicles are equipped with 2.0L 4-cylinder and 2.9L 6-cylinder turbocharged engines and manufactured by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles US LLC (FCA US). Reports received by ODI alleged stall and loss of motive power at speeds above 25 mph, with several reporting that the condition resulted in permanent disablement of the vehicle. Many reports described recurrence of the failure after an initial repair. During the investigation, ODI determined that the subject vehicles were equipped with fuel delivery pumps supplied by Vitesco Technologies Germany GmbH. ODI also confirmed that MY 2018–2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles were equipped with the same pump. ODI’s analysis identified an elevated failure rate associated with the original pumps installed in the subject vehicles. The failure mode involves interruption of fuel flow, resulting in fuel starvation and an unexpected loss of motive power, typically with little to no advance warning. In responses to ODI Information Requests submitted in April and June 2024, FCA US reported 2,162 customer reports (complaints, field reports, and legal claims) and 464 warranty claims related to the alleged defect. Combined with ODI’s data, the investigation identified 1,900 unique VIN experiencing failures. Review of the combined data confirmed one crash and no injuries, fatalities, or fires. On September 9, 2025, FCA US filed recall 25V-586, covering 29,467 MY 2017–2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles and 24,382 MY 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles, all equipped with the suspect Vitesco fuel delivery pump. FCA US reported that the remedy is under development, with dealer notifications planned on or about September 16, 2025, and owner notifications scheduled to begin on or about October 29, 2025.
