06V442000 · Vehicle Speed Control

Nov 2, 2006

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE AIR FILTER MOUNTING SCREWS MAY COME LOOSE AND FALL OUT.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: IF THE SCREWS FALL OUT, THEY COULD GET CAUGHT IN THE THROTTLE VALVE WHICH COULD PREVENT THE OPERATOR FROM REDUCING ENGINE SPEED PROPERLY. THIS COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF CONTROL AND A VEHICLE CRASH WITH INJURY OR DEATH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE AIR FILTER ELEMENT WITH A NEW ONE THAT IS DESIGNED TO HOLD THE SCREWS SECURELY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 29, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT YAMAHA AT 714-761-7842.
